it helps that literally no one else would defend baltar. also you can't expect badger to do all the work without the help of a main character do you?
no one can get anything done without their name in the title sequence.

they apparently expected to pass on wisdom about not abusing your creations or something, soooooManus Dei wrote:i am quite sure lawyering is not passed hereditarilyGands wrote:Well, his grandfather was a lawyer, so that makes sense.
Yeah, I think it was a mistake having them marry. Getting frisky and having a fling like in Insurrection, okay, I can totally see that happening; there's an episode of TNG that implies that, if they weren't already doing that now and again during the series run, Riker sure as hell was open to it.timmy wrote:True, but let's not forget what Riker had given up in order to pursue his career. There's always room for regret in a person's heart at life choices made and the doors that close the further along each branch of the path. Of course, canon crapped on that idea by allowing him to actually pick up his relationship with Deanna and have it both ways. Isn't that grand? It worked out for them in the end! Damn it.
You do make a good point, but at the same time I don't really feel like the TV series built up enough of a "gee I wish I'd been able to be with Troi forever" vibe (I mean if anything I got the impression that they were happy they'd dated but were also happy to see other people as well) to make that kind of "man I pissed away a life of love with Troi for maybe another ten years of service in Starfleet" angst really meaningful.
I think the best approach for that kind of story would have been to take... whatever the name of that DMZ Indian relocation episode was, excise the dumbass Traveler ending, and leave it at Wesley throwing away all of his previous ambitions for that one cause, that one moment. And the end of the episode would be him basically coming to grips with having effectively severed himself forever from the family he knew, not being able to just drop by and chill out if the Traveler feels like swinging by this quadrant again, and having to figure out what to do with his life now that he will never be in Starfleet like he'd hoped.

Re: Top 25 TNG Episodes
When I first saw the episode at the age of twelve my reaction was 'why would he be bored of Starfleet? What's wrong with him? It wasn't until I was an adult with a string of life disappointments behind me that I properly understood what they were going for. Him getting everything he could wish for via Deus Ex cheapens that message like crazy, but at the same time it's a funny bit of parallel for Wil Wheaton and his involvement in Trek: came in starry eyed, left jaded and nursing a grudge against the whole deal, and needing time to discover what his life was really about.uraniun235 wrote:I think the best approach for that kind of story would have been to take... whatever the name of that DMZ Indian relocation episode was, excise the dumbass Traveler ending, and leave it at Wesley throwing away all of his previous ambitions for that one cause, that one moment. Re: Top 25 TNG Episodes
well lee was something of a political idealist in the first season. But that ended up just causing lots of problems for everyone. not making him the one true saviour of the fleet.

The hot sex between Adama and Roslin is what saved the fleet.

There's nothing insane about true television scripted live.

Look, Olmos may be a little too old, but I'm pretty sure Ron Jeremy is still doing porn so it's probably not the worst thing man has ever seen.
Mary McDonnell is a total MILF though and I'd love to have seen her boobies and maybe butt in some Showtime-esque softcore. Which would also tend to limit Olmos' old man factor, too.
