Re: Testing Chat V: The Final Mysterious Island: Miami Beach

SG1 was good before all the farscape people started turning up I'm still annoyed that Carter wasn't made leader of the team After seeing a late episode of SG-1 one recent evening ("Bounty", an episode shamelessly cribbing from Grosse Pointe Blank ), I get the impression the casting of Ben...

Re: Trek Thread

I agree that The Motion Picture seemed to be more inventive and creatively mould breaking than the well produced, but on hindsight more creatively safe Into Darkness, even if the former movie was less successful at entertaining people on a superficial level and vanishing up its own backside.

Re: Testing Chat V: The Final Mysterious Island: Miami Beach

I'm still baffled at the idea of schools that have police officers. Are those police normally armed? Why are you baffled? Apart from the sensationalist spree school/college shootings that hit the media every 18 months or so, a lot of inner city schools are pretty damn rough with the gangsta culture...

I'm getting round to doing a Math test in the next few months and I'm getting butterflies in my tummies. Also I'm seriously contemplating going into some kind of art college.

Re: Testing Chat V: The Final Mysterious Island: Miami Beach

The pitfall with Iraq was the Western armies rolling in, amazingly ignorant about everything in Iraq, abruptly dismantled the Baathist state, and failing to fill in the power vacuum quickly/efficiently enough. It's been a while since I last read Fiasco.

Patriotic? Yeah, it's stupid getting too tied into the successes and failures of a five hundred year old country populated by 70 million people, even if I get too irrational about historical stuff happening 50/100/300 years ago.

Powerful state governments should stop treating less fortunate countries and regions as giant chess boards. except this actually has very little to do with 'powerful state governments' and much more to do with the long term fight in the middle east between shia and sunni Oh don't get me wrong, the ...

Yeah, if you put on heavy skin make up for many episodes for two or three years (like Virginia Hey) that wouldn't do your skin (or its pours) very good and that's likely why for similar reasons Jeri Ryan was only in full Borg costume in short spurts and why Peter Weller decided to walk out on his Ro...

Um, because people die? It's sort of a fact of life. We're all going to die and we can go at any second, but when Babylon 5 is a show that's still well under three decades old, it seems misfortunate to have a significant number of former regular cast members dead already, with seemingly over half o...
