Re: Lament 3: Cry Hard With A Vengeance
OK, I had this unfortunate incident today that has really confused and upset me, and if I see this guy again I may inform the authorities about him (or lodge a formal complaint to the bus company). When the bus journey I took today was nearly over, this swarthy, dishevelled looking guy was sitting i...

Re: Testing Chat V: The Final Mysterious Island: Miami Beach
I think the meme of the "underequipped" British in Afghanistan and Iraq was mostly down to British Army/Royal Navy/RAF infantrymen, through institutional inertia, going about in comparatively flimsy Range Rovers (which were alright for Northern Ireland or the brief jaunts with the Desert S...

Re: Testing Chat V: The Final Mysterious Island: Miami Beach
Oh dear, do you think Gibraltar is the most pointless topic over on the train wreck N&P sub-forum? I'm only paying it half attention and seems to be childish posturing between two troubled political administrations, causing irritating inconvenience for the locals. And Elfdart is making an ignora...

Two other actors that I think would make decent Doctors are Alan Davies and Robert Carlyle.

Re: Testing Chat V: The Final Mysterious Island: Miami Beach
Capaldi is a swell actor (and I was subconsciously thinking about him) but I must say it was a pretty conservative, almost safe choice, and he's a Scotsman like Tennant. But it's refreshing he's visibly fairly old and not a young(ish) adult like his last three predecessors.

Re: Testing Chat V: The Final Mysterious Island: Miami Beach
But I think Windows 8's Photo and Skydrive suites are genuinely good (synching up with my phone beautifully), which makes up up for the Video Player fuckwittery (which seems to be trying to be a cheapish knock-off of Netflix or Lovefilm rather than a reliable video player).

Re: Testing Chat V: The Final Mysterious Island: Miami Beach
And you're correct, it does fail completely by trying to be a tablet OS on the desktop. Do yourself a favour and install something like Pokki menu, it puts back a start menu and forces desktop mode on boot. It's not just that, my problem is Windows 8's Video Application steadfastly refusing to play...

I find Windows 8 to be a Jekyll and Hyde OS - I find it very good on my Nokia Lumia but more illogical, awkward on my laptop if I have to do more than just browse the net or use email.RogueIce wrote:Windows XP was the greatest. I miss it.

Re: Lament 3: Cry Hard With A Vengeance
wish the AV referendum had come up 'yes', then I could vote for the greens (and the socialist workers etc) without worrying about handing a vote to the tories. If that had succeeded, I could almost forgive those lilly-livered liberal tosspots for going into the coalition. I can vaguely remember the...

I don't like the porno industry, but I have a feeling that trying clamp down on the net will backfire and piss more innocent users off. Recently saw The World's End , me and everybody else in the cinema was laughing all the way through, but it was a surprisingly dark movie with a shock ending: First...

Spoiler : They already tried nuking the rift in the past, but it didn't work then. The only reason why the Marshal gave the order to try once again was because the UN had decided to shut down down the whole Jaeger program. Him giving the order for this mission, just after having lost two jaegers in...

Yeah, like I said I take IQ scores with a degree of caution and its comes across as a form of reassurance. Also IQ results can easily be misused for dubious political purposes.

Terminal illness is still an on going blight despite our advances, I hope your grandmother departs with as much comfort and dignity as possible, RyanThunder. I recently took a intelligence test in psychological survey exercise and I've perhaps got an IQ of 111 (with a verbal of 103). A bit above ave...

Why is Metahive the boogie man of the month now, when people pooh-poo SD.Net? He always seemed like a fairly laid back and bright person, though what's gone wrong with now in recent months is (IMO) he's gradually transforming into a mini-Thanas (cooped up in the History sub-forum a bit too long).

Shep: Grand champion of SDN. He got everyone to cover him while he trolled to his heart's content. Then went of his own accord. I once plugged "shep" "banned" and some other stuff into the SDN search, and it was always funny to see either the mods impotently posting, or DW basic...
