Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat
Okay so when I said 12 hours give or take, I apparently meant give or take a day Sorry about that Anyhow, apparently yes they do need access to some warm water in winter, but it doesn't need to be enough to swim in So long as there's enough for them to have a bit of a waddle and do their thing in (w...

I can tell you right now the eggs are RICH Like, way more so than chicken eggs Best eggs for cakes I love them, but many people find them too rich for omelettes and such Your mileage may vary As for winter, ours is not even winter compared to yours, but will get what I can on the matter Will call mu...

What do you need to know?
My mum has raised ducks for eggs (though not in nearly as cold a climate)
I can pick her brains on your behalf

Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat
"I burnt my junk" stories are always amusing When I was a lad of 15 or 16, my gf and myself decided to experiment with alternative lubricants (as one does at that age) Turns out essential oils are a rather poor choice Nuts were aflame, I tell you I cannot even begin to imagine how she must...

Re: videojuegos
If you start turning (gently, and preferably to the east) at 5-10km up, you can save remarkable amounts of fuel getting to orbit
You only have to shift your vector 5 degrees or so, and gravity will start doing most of the work (and this is why they call it a gravity turn )

I find it a fun challenge to engineer non-fatal abort sequences Like 'cut all engines, decouple command module, fire small solids on escape tower' I think I mostly started doing it just so the abort button would have a function Totally saves lives, though And when you get to orbit, you get to yell T...

Re: Microscope
I'd think the time of the Greatest Emperor would be generally light But not for everyone Only for those in the right strata of society, and depending on location So things would be shiny for say the upper and middle class in central provinces, but rather suck for the not-so-well off (maybe slavery? ...

Can The Time of 5 Emperors be the second period, just 50 years after the reign of the Greatest Emperor?

Re: Microscope
Why not have both? But instead of fantasy within scifi (like how SW is), do scifi within fantasy So it's wizards and such in old castles, but they can build robits and flying machines and even spaceships because magic (eg wooden capsule survives reentry thanks to a hundred mages at Mission Control c...

I'm quite annoyed at the number of well-meaning but uninformed idiots flailing their opinions about the coal fire that is currently burning 15 minutes from my house Is it going to turn out like that one Silent Hill town? :v Maybe Considering the rivalry between Moe and Morwell, it'll be almost a lo...

Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat
In some cases, the difference might be moot
Take gender pay disparity
It totally symbolises patriarchal oppression and all that
But to remove the symbol, you have to make an institutional change
So it's not really either/or
But this wouldn't hold true in all cases (at least I think it wouldn't)

Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat
True, it's a weird compromise
I think we're all happy to ignore the odd thing for the sake of story and drama
Those who couldn't were the same people who simply couldn't get past "HST to ISS requires >3km/s of delta-v, movie is RUINED!!1!"

Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat
Yeah, lots of stuff wrong on the space side, would have been cooler if they'd gotten it 100% That was the original plan until someone realised they'd spend most of the movie explaining very counter-intuitive orbital mechanics. Yeah, and if they'd just done stuff accurately without explanation, ever...
