I loved this movie, down to the fact that the police-robot plant still uses Windows XP to run shit. It's beautiful.

Written a bit earlier, posting just now: So a commando of two fundamentalists extremists just went to the redaction of a french satyrical journal today, and straight up murdered 11 people and made 2 more wounded. (Edit: 12 dead now) (Graphic) videos of the events are already circulating on the web....

Re: Holography for the poor
Why wouldn't you just use a rainbow hologram so you can ditch the laser illumination? That shouldn't be much harder to simulate digitally. High-end consumer inkjets hit roughly .73 dots per micron, though this is elliptically distorted (1.44 dpµ horizontally, 0.36 vertically). Of course, this is sti...

Re: Share your favorite Star Wars memories
I considered editing in that I had abused admin powers to send you email directly, but I thought better of it. It doesn't really bother me much, since the email for that is largely my disposable account. You could have also asked Rabid, as he knows my email (well one of them.) Wait, what? Which BL ...

How on earth do you think that Ghostbusters is anything but a comedy I think it treats the unspeakable terror of transdimensional godbeings crossing the distance to enter our world and gorge themselves at our expense the only way you can treat something like that As a joke to stave away madness Ray...

Re: Share your favorite Star Wars memories
I'm still semi-around places, just not actively posting because I have limited time to spend on browisng forums (and most of that is devoted to moderating SB, or otherwise keeping sci fi vs debate nerds in line) If anyone needs me they can still pm me here, on SB, or SDN or SV because I've got acco...

Re: SLAM
Hey, I like our little gang. yeah Instinctively, we don't want to put women in dangerous situations because eggs are expensive, sperm is cheap etc. Now, if Ghostbusting is supposed to be intrinsically dangerous (which is how it was protrayed in the originals, albeit in a lighthearted way) then send...

"PO OR" GUNG ANS 99.6% HAVE AN ENERGY PEARL SOURCE: WOOKIEPEDIA.COM I'd be more excited if they hadn't gotten that blank canvas by erasing a picture I was still interested in. The picture hasn't been erased. I, personally, am glad that it's been set free to be the alternate universe where ...

ugh some woman who runs a women's shelter on the radio, seems like exactly the kind of person who I should be nodding along to and agreeing with but no, today they're talking about domestic violence against men, and she's spending so much time trying to minimise the problem this isn't the first tim...

Re: Microscope
Can The Time of 5 Emperors be the second period, just 50 years after the reign of the Greatest Emperor? That way we can play with things at their decadent peak before they go sour OK, so is this a good time (Light) or a bad time (Dark)? And we need another bookend, the end of our little history, wh...

Its Sunday afternoon soup's time, so I'm going to make some suggestions. For the beginning Period, I'd like to call it The Time of the Five Emperors. This Period is a time whwn the Empire broke apart into a civil war lasting many years, with five legitimate claimants and many warlords. Like the Thre...

Some additional ideas: "The last days of empire, and what came next", "The fortunes and misfortun as of an aristocratic family." "Birth and life of a city."
Any of these are fine byvme, but if I had to choose it would be the first one.

Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat
It's not the same thing, but I've toyed with the idea of trying to get a game of Microscope going here basically it's a world-building game, where each person takes turns adding new elements (either eras, events, or scenes (which could even allow for people to put in short stories)) onto a timeline...
