Re: Spartan's I Can Make This Thread

Fun fact: the capsaicin in chili peppers like jalapenos can cause chemical burns on your hands and spread to... elsewhere. *smirk*

Don't ask me how I know that.

Re: I saw a truly touching movie today

Finally saw it today. I thought the opening was a little corny, but the rest of the film was indeed touching.

I've been meaning to go see that.

Hopefully, I'll have time to fit it in the next couple weeks...

Re: HAN SOLO MORE LIKE SOLO HANDJOB HA HA HA HA

...the reviews from the film seem to be more or less a shrug. I saw it Friday and that's pretty much my reaction to it. Every other time I've seen a Star Wars movie in the theater it felt like an Event to me. Even TPM. Solo felt like "Generic Sci Film" with Star Wars painted onto it. I'm ...

Ah, okay. I'm up-to-date now. I had occasionally come across Nostalgia Critic videos, but was otherwise unaware of the rest of it.

I can see how all that could be a gut punch.

Teaching Certification for the Terrible Student...

So, I'm still looking for a job after a really long fucking time. Engineering positions are, apparently, being REALLY fucking anal about specific experience. With that in mind, I thought that maybe getting my teaching certification would, at worst, help me get by until I could get back into an engin...

Re: RIP New Testingstan, 201?-2017

I don't know if there's a subforum there that would be suitable for the tone of a testinstan refugee camp thread though Probably isn't, but that's not really what I had in mind. I was thinking more in terms of just the population migrating and integrating into the new forum. Something like that any...

Re: RIP New Testingstan, 201?-2017

I did sign up for xon's forum. Is there any space for a testingstan pity party thread over there I wonder Where was that? Seems like a good starting point to try to recover our forum that just can't be allowed to die! :duchess: Sorry, had to get some sarcasm in there. Edit: Sufficient Velocity? I a...

Re: RIP New Testingstan, 201?-2017

I recall invitations to other boards being run by posters here. I didn't really become active on those boards due to thinking I already had enough forums, as well as other assorted internet nonsense, to eat up my time, but perhaps we should collectively choose one of those boards to go to? Kinda fee...

Haven't done much of anything new in a while until yesterday and today when I made pickled sweet corn and pickled grapes. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b102/m_spartan1979/20106633_10208506701938322_7382713942230903552_n_zpsx2lge2jc.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b102/m_spartan1979/2010856...

Re: Testing Episode IV: A New Lament

Went to see Steve Martin and Martin Short's show last night and I got picked to go up on stage and do a bit with them and two other guys! Steven and Marty sang the Three Amigos song and the three of us did the Three Amigos "salute". I'VE PERFORMED ON STAGE WITH STEVE MARTIN AND MARTIN SHOR...

Re: Testing Episode IV: A New Lament

I actually have a pretty good sense of direction and I still use Google Maps all the damn time if for no other reason than to get route updates when there's traffic. Nowadays anyhow. First time I went to Munich, I didn't have maps on my phone so I got a paper map at the hotel and then, without using...

See, I used to just get insomnia for that.

I very slightly would prefer that. I could at least deal with that by taking a nap.

Actually, you might have a point. Given that I'm unemployed and living with my parents and have the anxiety, frustration and stress that comes out of that, it might just be the source of the dreams.

Re: Testing Episode IV: A New Lament

I've been over the past few months having a recurring dream now and then. A bad one that's managed to worm its way into my waking thoughts. In the dream, I'm in my last semester at university and I'm failing a course that I need for my degree and can't retake it because I've used up my allotted reta...

Re: ROUGE ONE: KINDA LIKE STAR WARS

The Best Thing (yes, with caps) about TPM was when Darth Maul appeared for the climatic lightsaber battle with the brass playing the chords from "Duel of the Fates". That alone is enough to tolerate Jar Jar for the duration of film. Until the second film, the only redeeming quality of whic...
