Re: Let's Big Orange this shit: rank the Trek movies!
Memory's a little hazy, but I'm pretty sure part of the point of nuKirk is that he's less mature than the original and a few years younger to boot. He's only a captain because of a combination of luck, unusual circumstances and natural talent. Makes a lot more sense that he acts like a frat boy whe...

Re: Trek Thread
Enterprise had noticeable arcs from the beginning. S1 of Enterprise was much more arc-driven that S1 of DS9, albeit it was more along the lines of Buffy than B5 (i.e. one big arc per season). That's just the prevailing trend of television. And now that everything is all primed for binging on netflix...

Re: Trek Thread
man I'd love planet of the week
but contemporary tv being what it is, this new trek show will 100% be more like Enterprise/DS9 than Proper Star Trek

based on past experience, wouldn't the whole ship being a holodeck be a Really Bad Idea lol
I'm definitely up for the ship being a character, though
voyager's like 90% great

that raises a lot of questions. Is there a pony japan? Are they ponies or something else (like how the native americans were buffalos)?

Re: Testing Episode IV: A New Lament
LaTeX is fine if you either don't have to collaborate with anyone in any way, or the people you do collaborate with are all total nerds who know what the fuck LaTeX is That said, for my personal stuff I write in markdown and then use pandoc to convert it to whatever I actually need. It uses LaTeX if...

Re: Testing Episode IV: A New Lament
it's actually neither of those things!
bestiality means having sex with a live animal
necrophilia means having sex with a dead person
a severed pig's head is neither of those things
legally, he's in the clear

Re: The Glue Factory
I'm like 90% sure that fanfiction is copyright infringement, whether or not you sell it. It's just that... what kind of a bellend would bother going after fanfic writers? But, I've seen other people do what you're doing, and none of them have been stung by it, so you should be fine? Shit, idk, I'm n...

Re: The Glue Factory
I've seen Patreons like 'for $300/mo I'll do an extra blog post a week', that's the kind of thing I meant by stretch goals, I don't know if Patreon has its own term for it (also I'm pretty sure fanfiction is technically illegal in the first place? Taking money for it could up the damages in a lawsui...
