Re: Resignation!

Yeah, the culture of the company changed a lot in the last two years. They shifted from placing importance on employee satisfaction to cutting everyone's hours to save money. Then they fired a coworker for various bullshit reasons. I'm grateful to the kitchen people for their continued employment, b...

Re: Testing Chat V: The Final Mysterious Island: Miami Beach

For me, the fourth season felt like a poor imitation of the first few. There were a few good moments, but nothing like the dinner party or work outing.

But yeah, Thick of It is fucking amazing as a sitcom. It's amazingly well acted.

Re: Testing Chat V: The Final Mysterious Island: Miami Beach

It's certainly up there, especially if one ignores the fourth season.

I think that The Thick of It is better.

Re: Resignation!

Good for you, Gands. What's your new gig? I'm doing research studentry (with stipend) and teaching children at an academic coaching clinic. So it's economically a good move for me, as well as one where I GET MY SATURDAY NIGHTS BACK. I've worked nearly every Saturday for the last two years. I've had...

Re: Lament 3: Cry Hard With A Vengeance

You know, I still have difficulties processing the fact that those newborns I saw people carry here and there in the streets in the late 1990's and early 2000's are the same teenagers I see nowadays hanging near the gates of the middle and high-schools here. I know what you mean. I teach children w...

Re: Resignation!

There is massive satisfaction in quitting a job you don't like They're right when they say everyone should do it at least once Yeah, I was trying to find the best way to walk out, but then I remembered that I finish at 2300, after pretty much everyone has gone home. It'll be like the end of Cheers ...

Resignation!

Today I officially resigned from my gig as a kitchenhand.

After two years, I finally have Saturday nights back! No more 6-11PM shift, then coming home smelling like a wet rag. Also, no more certain coworkers.

Woo!

Re: Lament 3: Cry Hard With A Vengeance

Teaching is hard. I've been marking tests, and while it's less demanding than teaching kindergarten, it's more grueling. Scantrons are your friend. :prof: True. I've been administering tests for maths, English, writing and general ability. The EMG are done by scantrons because they're just multiple...

Teaching is hard. I've been marking tests, and while it's less demanding than teaching kindergarten, it's more gruelling. Successfully held a youth wing summit in the heart of an opposition riding this weekend. Premier and some ministers came out. We made sure everybody knew. It was awesome. Fantast...

Also, because of associations with the USSR, Marx is also tied up with issues of nationalism.

Re: Lament 3: Cry Hard With A Vengeance

I got on the rowing machine today at the local gym. I rowed a kilometre in about four minutes, which was good. But I realised afterwards that someone before me had set the difficulty to maximum. Based on how my middle and legs feel, I worked out. I'll be going back each morning to do more and more.

Re: Lament 3: Cry Hard With A Vengeance

It's been a good few weeks for me. Last week at uni the Sikh association of Australia set up a booth to meet people and educate. It was pretty awesome, I learned more than I would have had I just gone to a website, so I feel like a slightly better global citizen. I've also spent the last two days at...

Postgrad work. I had to quit TKD to do more sitting and reading.

Add into tht stress induced appetites and... yeah. However, we did just join a gym down the road, so things should improve.
