Hmmmm, I think that applies more to his Hellboy movies. Blade II was workmanlike action horror (it was better than Blase: Trinity, but that's not a hard thing to do).

Re: Lament 3: Cry Hard With A Vengeance

I get a lot dreams involving fear of being punished or being in serious legal/moral trouble of some kind, but I don't get lucid photographic memories of them when I wake up.

Pacific Rim was a pretty solid blockbuster (but it wasn't really horror as such).

Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat

There have been TV edits of Robocop where the extreme violence is edited out for more of a 12/15 rating and swearing hilariously dubbed over.

Oh for fuck's sake! The Jobcentre has finally stopped my job seeking allowance after I filled in a phonebook sized form that came through the door and posted it in on time, only to get lost in the dysfunctional mountain of bureaucracy!

I highly recommend Wolf Children - think 80s/90s Studio Ghibli, a bit more bite than today's Ghibli.

Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat

Judging from the reviews and spoilers, I get the impression that the Robocop remake is like the fairly recent Total Recall remake; solidly made and watchable on its own, but kinda bland and unnecessary. Robocop 3 also suffered greatly from being a bit too bland and commercialised, even if its satiri...

I'm slightly puzzled why you still post there, I felt much better when I spent more time in the real world with real people and did things I liked. Every other talk forums and social networks easily feel more easy going than SD.Net; SB has its chronic technical issues with a server bottleneck and a ...

Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat

OK, I've steamed right through my Breaking Bad boxset, finding most of the show addictive and mesmerising, and one death scene in particular stuck in my mind: Namely the incredibly sad and morbid death of Jesse's junkie girlfriend, Jane, when she suffocated on her own vomit because of Walter White's...

Caught the conclusion to the NCIS bombing two parter on my laptop (and wah hah hey to yet more extrajudicial murder by Agent Gibbs!). I don't remember that. He did kill the Big Bad in part three, but that was in defense of another, which would be a justified shoot. It happened in a relatively recen...

I've seen Starship Troopers 3: Marauder on classy Channel 5 yesterday evening and while Jolene Blalock is a relatively solid actress, but my God was that film badly written and badly made (with the CGI towards the end reminding me of a FMV cutscene from a mid to late 1990s Westwood Studios video gam...

No love lost with the British establishment and their love for self-destructive crony capitalism, but one understandable reason why there's this sudden push for increasingly extreme, arbitrary civil enforcement laws was the '11 riots where the homes and properties of ordinary people (not evil corpo...
