Re: TFA spoilers und summary
Episode 7 has a lot of really deliberate parallels to post-WW1 germany when you read into the movie or read any of the fluff that goes with it. Yeah. I mean, they weren't even trying to be subtle with it. It's like they took the "Empire = Space Nazis" from the OT and turned that shit up t...

Well yeah. But I was confused by the whole "neither ftl nor the force" thing. I thought it was a reference of some sort.evilsoup wrote:nothing in the kotor games happened. They're works of fiction.

I feel like I'm the only one here who actually thinks the reboot Trek movies are good.

Re: Share your favorite Star Wars memories
I am getting so fucking sick of KOTOR fanboys wanking hard over Revan that I hope they never include him (her?). In fact I hope they retcon the utter living shit out of the entire TOR era that it is impossible for even the tiniest aspect of those games to have ever happened.

Re: Testing Episode IV: A New Lament
I just realized that I can literally count on one hand the number of 2015 movies I've seen (it's 4).
Man I just did not put in the effort this year.

Re: Let's Big Orange this shit: rank the Trek movies!
If part of it could be explained by the fact that in JJTrek Kirk's dad died way earlier than he originally did and Kirk grew up without that stabilising influence on him, I might be ok with it. But Kirk's dad was never mentioned in the show so I doubt this can really be attributed to his influence....

Re: Let's Big Orange this shit: rank the Trek movies!
Also two films in and Kirk is *still* an irresponsible and reckless fratboy who is somehow still in charge of a starship and in command of hundreds of men and women. This is more of a complaint at JJTrek in general than ID specifically, but the writers have a very shallow understanding of the chara...

-FOR FUCK'S SAKE LUKE SAY SOMETHING BEFORE THE END CREDITS ROLL- ah shit So I'm really into Star Citizen, and I was watching a streamer playing the game last night. Someone asked about the Squadron 42 single-player game so he showed some YouTube videos, including this one: https://www.youtube.com/w...

I had much the same reaction when Subway discontinued their buffalo chicken subs the first time.
Then they brought it back.
Then they discontinued it again.

Re: Trek Thread
You don't see 20+ episodes a season in *puts on monocle* refined and sophisticated cable tv shows I was going to say "it depends on what you mean by cable" but then I realized even some of my beloved USA/TNT shows had less than 20 episodes. I could also have said that stuff like HBO shows...

Re: Trek Thread
I was having a conversation about a week ago with a friend who commented that you can't do the 20+ episodes a season thing anymore, and I took the dissenting opinion. Arrow gets like 22/23 episodes a season, and that thing is highly arc-based. And very well regarded. Don't most shows still get arou...

I mean Picard told Riker at the end of "The Pegasus" about something-something consequences for all that stuff coming to light and literally nothing ever came of it. Much like Sisko told Worf at the end of "Change Of Heart" about something-something consequences for abandoning h...

Eh, planet of the week has been done. Though if they combined it with DS9's focus on character development and having things matter, that'd be great. I mean Picard told Riker at the end of "The Pegasus" about something-something consequences for all that stuff coming to light and literally...

Re: The Glue Factory
There's been a number of ponies with slanted eyes already mostly in episodes related to Rarity & fashion, iirc). Hasn't Neighpon been mentioned a few times already as well, or is that just fanon? Fairly sure it's fanon. Though I've seen fanart of Japanshy ever since season 1. I did once read an...

I shall likely not see it. It'll likely go on a pay channel like sky here if we get it at all. and I can't be arsed pirating it. eta: and I don't know if you were directing that comment in my general direction on TEO but 'I don't like the writing of the films and am worried I won't like the same gu...

Re: Trek Thread
RDM did mention that, and basically said she would have kicked their asses and taken back the ship. TBH I think it would be more along the lines of, she's an experienced, senior officer with significant combat experience. Especially as a guerilla fighter, which is basically what the cadets on the Va...

Re: Trek Thread
To be fair, even if he had tried to assert his rank, I'm not entirely sure they would have listened and he might have gotten locked up beside Jake. And that's assuming they didn't actually outrank him because Starfleet is weird like that. I mean these "Cadet Officers" had legitimate rank p...

Re: The Glue Factory
I haven't seen it yet. I keep hearing that people are calling it transphobic, but I get the impression that's going off the idea that anything involving a man posing as a woman is transphobic. Probably. Now granted I'm not an expert, need to check my privilege and so on. But yeah, it was cross-dres...
