I find it hard to tell sometimes Fanboy, adr, whether you're arguing against these things because you actually believe it's not true or just because SDN people said it.


eta; hmm. after posting that I actually did look up some definitions. According to wikipedia, violence is directed at people. The Oxford English Dictionary however has it defined as force directed at someone or something which would include laptops.

In the USA it is author life +70 years. The smart money is that it will increased the next time Micky Mouse comes up for it's copyright being expired. Just like the last 3-5 times.

i never had an allowance either

and had to clean up after myself (and my lazy brother whom my mother always loved more. i wish his name was raymond but alas)

and either walked or took the bike to school through the snow each day

and didn't have the fashionable clothes

and either ate what my mother made and liked it or just starved to death

and had to go with her to the store to carry the stuff back on foot too


and even had a BED TIME

i didn't have any kind of regular access to the internet until i was 20

my internet history:

my mother got it in like 1998 when her parents bought us our first computer

mother set it up the dial up

and didn't let any of us ever use it




in 1999 tho i started spending my lunch periods in school slipping away to the math teacher's room to read about programming on the net

so i kinda had it at that point

in..... 2002 i think my mother gave me her old computer

but no internets yet



so i would download some stuff to the FLOPPY DISK at school to bring it back

(one of my earlier useful programs was one to break a 6 MB file up so i could put it on like 5 floppy disks, then put it back together at home!)

this is what i refer to as my "DOS days" b/c i went kinda nuts writing dos programs for the next couple years in my bedroom lol



in late 2004 i got my own internets for the first time in the form of DIAL UP at college



then it was mid 2005 when the old folks decided to purchase BROAD BAND at home. hilariously my first ever SDN private message was informing me of this. my brother signed up just to send that.



and there you go. had the net ever since





sometimes i'm amazed at how many years have passed by since then


it feels like just yesterday was still high school (finished that off in june 2004)
