Come on people keep believing shows have a big plan

They believed it for lost despite it being obvious and admitted by producers
I believe people also believe it about that revenge show

People just gotta believe shit makes sense

'everyone is a retard' isnt satisfying

Shit I can't find the article I read it in a few years ago now. Basically Moore protested about "And they have a plan" being inserted because he had no idea what a Cylon plan was and didn't want to be shoehorned into creating one just for a tag line in the opening credits. The real plan was the god/wizard/omnipotent beings plan to create humanity as we know it, as the "humans" in BSG aren't really homo sapiens sapiens.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"The purpose of a cult is exclusion. If you're not in the cult, you are by definition lacking some essential quality shared by its members. Those inside the cult can feel privileged, even gifted, by their ability to Get It. I was willing to Get It, I was sincerely prepared, but at the end of this experience, I concluded there was nothing to be Got." - Roger Ebert, US film critic (1942-)

Indeed! I was going to post in that thread asking them to name a single show that was planned from day one, from its inception to its conclusion, including all of the little things. I doubt many exist, especially those with overarching plotlines that last for seasons. It's just a hard thing to do, especially when you don't know if your show is going to be axed because of ratings. You'd have to know that from the onset so you can make up for it.

People who think LOST was planned from the beginning are only deluding themselves. The best shows have storylines contained in each season, so when the series is about to end, no major problems about tying things up exist. Having 10-13 episodes a season helps too, instead of the standard 24 for those primetime shows. That's going overkill and creates filler, which is unwelcome as it stops the narrative of the season.

A lot of Japanese TV shows are typically planned to run either a full year, a half year, or a quarter year. Even the original Macross back from 1982 had several different outlines depending on how many episodes could be allotted due to budget.

Of course the longer series like DBZ and Bleach are made to run forever.

It really depends on how long you intend a series to stick around.

who are you talking about
Well shit, I was talking about Ryan Thunder. I could've sworn he'd lost it. Nevermind.
yeah i will put money on the table that says humans will walk on mars before ryan loses his VI title
I loled.

Also: guy brings up good points on philosophy, gets banned. Guy is a shitty debator with bad ideas and does so for years, only gets a VI title. :psyduck:
Yeah but he was debating His Majesty. That's a no-no.

That's true, and one reason why I love many Brit series. They usually don't last more than three seasons and the creators know from the start that they won't last long.

I wonder if Mike's heard of the problem of induction.

The problem with induction is that you need special pans to use it :v

Thus the inability of handling such exceptions undermines D's
ability to support dynamically loaded modules of any kind and
greatly impairs modularity.
gotta love it

another thing is how hard is it ot just try it yourself

Code: Select all

import std.stdio;
void main() {
	int* a = null;
	try {
		*a = 0;
	} catch(Throwable t) {
		writefln("I caught it! %s", t.msg);
	}
}
oh no that took FOREVER

let me rant about it for a few paragraphs on the internet instead of confirming my facts

so i watched THE BLUES BROTHERS today

...and meh.

it starts slowly, is long, and i didn't really lol too much

the movie is basically four things

1) meh

2) random destruction. and i do mean random

3) ridiculously over the top crowds and chases. and i do mean ridiculous

4) music sequences

it is kinda entertaining anyway

aretha franklin's song was the best part

but overall i don't really see what's so good about it

A celebration of blues and roots

And the notion that all musicians are criminals or shadowy

At the end of the day you either enjoyed it or you didn't?

i'm reading some amazon reviews and perhaps i should have flipped the disc over to do the theaterrical version instead of the extended version

(i just put the disc in and didn't bother getting the magnifying glass and flash light to tell what side it was)

but i enjoy a good car chase as much as the next guy (at least the first couple times

and the music sequences were pretty good

it just wasn't a particularly funny movie and it dragged at times
