Today I am stuck on Box Hill for work.

Plus side? A phenomenal pho joint next to the office.

I just got offered my dream job, assuming shit goes right.

But, it'd involve working for, and indirectly promoting, christian fundamentalists.

I am mildly conflicted.

I think I'm actually going to take it. It makes sense career wise, financially, and if precedent elsewhere holds it'd let me do a lot of good.

But... something doesn't sit right with me.

A nearby college that doesn't have a debate team is getting a grant to start one (probably) and I've been offered the Head Coaching job.

So the positives: It's a tremendous career opportunity, it looks great on the resume, it gives me in-roads to get a similar job at another university OR at the High School level, and traditionally Christian fundamentalists in the debate community become extremely open to outside influence while also being successful at debate.

The negatives: My job would be to make soon-to-be missionaries better debaters.

Somebody's going to step up to do it and advance their career from it. It might as well be someone who isn't going to funnel that money back into tithes.

If it's anything like that one video he brought up of a dude debating, I'm not worried. Most people don't want a missionary shouting in their face with a river of words so that the missionary can get their point across in 5 minutes. "HEYHAVEYOUHEARDTHEWORDOFJESUSCHRISTHELOVESYOUANDREASONS"
