He just thinks that our obsession with SDN is holding us back. I'm willing to agree with that.uraniun235 wrote:shroom i can definitely get behind "don't get mad about a bad internet forum" but it almost sounds like you're telling us to give up internet discussion forums forever

I took a year long banning around three years ago to focus on my studies
probably didn't work because i still read the place basically just as often
i like to think i came back significantly radder but that might just be due to gains in maturity
how many of sdn's problems can be traced back to having a bunch of 15 year olds or whatever

From what I can see, one of the problem of the board can be traced back to its origin as a "debate board" ; as people aren't, you know, just chillaxing and shooting shit together to pass time, but instead try to convert others to their opinions, to prove other wrongs and themselves rights. The board is by nature very militant, and in perpetual need of "enemies" to "fight".
We can see it result in an "orthodoxy" actively hunting any differing opinions, and for me it's just fucking tedious.

i'm not saying 'give up internet discussion forums forever'
i am saying 'give up internet discussions forums that aren't worth the time/don't have peoples worth discussing with/etc."
there's a reason why i no longer go to that place but after a while of reading this place and basically nodding my head in agreement with what was being said joined this place
cause i am having an internet discussion in this particular internet discussion forum amirite?

what's different between those guys posturing and blurghing and blahing and constantly vying to be the biggest fatsos of the big fatso emporium of big fatsopolis and the penchant of some guise here for sumo wrestling with those chuds?
sumo wrestling
that's the term most apt here
some guys just need to stop sumo wrestling goddamn it
come on
Re: Godammed SDN
After my 9 month break from TEO Ive found that the boards flaws dont bother me as much, and I can just screw around and have a laugh. Like the SR3 thread. I dont feel bound by their legalistic stuff.
I stll roll my eyes, that probation stuff is pretty sad but at the end of the day its holding them back not me. I can log off and play with my dogs if it gets to me.

Cool stuff. Is the stick a stand in for a weapon?

Re: Godammed SDN
The stick is a weapon in itself. Though because the stick is such a basic shape, in a real life situation you can use all sorts of objects to stand in for the stick, or even your arms and hands - which the stick is a mere extension of. So batons, knives, pens, paperweights, keys, machetes, the movements and techniques you learn in eskrima work with them just as well.
Re: Godammed SDN
Well know I know where Henry Zou got his stickfighting martial art from.
Man, so the probation thing right? I've said the odd time that making piece with the system is an important part of maturing as a person, mostly because if you don't you'll be angry a hell of a lot. So while I think the system they put in place is silly and kind of childish, choosing to work within it is a sign of guys like Tucker becoming less self centred.
It's like those guys in the 60's that did a lot of protesting and skippy granola stuff and then became the thing they protested against, because they had too.
Ok, maybe not the best example for a pew-pew forum.

They freaked out about Stark trying to sabotage the board, man. Besides, just bringing it up in an area where mods will see it will hopefully keep it from ever happening, though it'd be hilarious if they finally devolved into electronic cannibalism.F.J. But really I'm just tilting at windmills and yelling at Thanas via PM about the problems I see in moderation and policies. Won't do any good, but I guess it might make it easier to wash my hands of the whole place? I don't know, guess I'm getting all messiah-complexy.

Take a break dude, maybe put the time into a new hobby or something.
