So I got this phone secondhand from a female friend.
It's a little frustrating at times, like the predictive text is trolling me
Tries to suggest horrendous spelling because it's still going off of her common word usage

Anyhow I'm talking food on Failbook
Saying "I'm not really visual when it comes to food"
'Cause I like eating curries that pretty much look like poop

When I type "comes"
It suggests "boner" first
Every fucking time
Troll phone makes me lol

I don't know. Maybe. Personally I just always deactivate all form of predictive typing or auto-complete - I find it annoying, and it end up slowing me down more than anything else.

Obvious joke is obvious, yes.

What I find funny though is that it was a girl's typing that made it this way.
She must type boner a lot. :giggidy:

oh and I don't bother resetting it because the dictionary in this phone is terrible to start with (avocado is a word ffs) and I'm gradually getting it to loose her habits and expand its vocabulary
There is hope yet for this phone's education

edit lol scumbag phone still trolls my spelling

What kind of world do we live in where it's acceptable to stalk people and take photos of them for tabloids.

And grainy boob pics, whoopee.

I think decide if The Onion have hit it out of the park or missed the point entirely here.
it depends on whether they actually manage to get protests and death threats, but it sure looks like they're getting kinda smug about islam when it's been about twenty years since french catholics firebombed a showing of the last temptation of christ and hindus in nepal have made death threats against a guy for painting pictures of hindu deities in superhero costumes just this year

so have to wait and see i guess

so my father has a big kidney stone. went to an emergency room monday. they diagnosed it and gave some pills for the pain but waited until yesterday to give a referral to a specialist to actually have something done about it.

why the hell did it take four days to write that up? though now he's seeing a surgeon next week to see about breaking it up so it can pass so i guess it isn't too bad but still, what the hell.

it also reminds me of one time my mother collapsed randomly. they had an ambulance take them to the hospital. where she just laid on a gurney in the hallway for about five hours before a doctor finally came around. maybe they had more needy patients to tend to (she regained consciousness in transit so there was no apparent immediate danger) but they didn't seem busy at all

fucking hospitals

And they're not grainy at all

Fuck, my Google-Fu must be weak.

And this is why I use Bing.

EDIT: LOL just saw the problem

a justification for hazing?
"At E*Trade, which was founded in 1996 and grew to become the #2 online brokerage by 1999, new employees are asked to stand up on a chair at their first staff meeting and tell everyone something embarrassing about themselves. Though a slightly bizarre practice, it jibes with sound psychological logic. Once newcomers disclose this embarrassing thing about themselves, asking questions about their new job or company won’t be nearly as embarrassing. Newcomers will be much more likely to ask their new colleagues for the information they need to hit the ground running in their new job without worrying about a loss of face since they already lost their face at that first meeting. Newcomers are grateful that their new colleagues accept them despite their faults. Further, knowing that others have gone through this unique initiation rite creates a bond that allows members to work together more effectively and, by increasing their accountability to others, makes it more likely that newcomers will work hard to uphold established organizational norms."

It kinda make sense, though I guess it's mostly a question of measure : there's a world of difference between asking someone to say something embarrassing about themselves of their own choosing, and the worst cases of hazing/public humiliation out there.

DT : Well, like "a mile wide". On a cosmic scale, that's pretty fine :v

But yeah, I don't think you can call that blurb from the article a "justification" for hazing. It can explain some roots of the phenomenon, but I don't think it's all there is to it.

MANILA, Philippines - The Senate will conduct a legislative investigation into the death of Marc Andre Marcos, the second San Beda College student killed in a fraternity hazing this year, senators said Thursday.

Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan said that two fraternity hazing deaths in a year from a single college is alarming.

"Two deaths in just five months is truly alarming. We have yet to see decisive action from San Beda officials and take any responsibility towards the care and general welfare of its students. They are morally obligated to put an end to the senseless killings by fellow students," Pangilinan said.

Marcos is the second student of San Beda College killed by hazing in 2012, following the death of Marvin Reglos in February of this year.

speaking of fraternities
MANILA, Philippines - Police said a World War 2 (WW2) grenade was the explosive lobbed during the fateful last day of the Bar exams, which left at least 44 people injured.

Manila Police District (MPD) officials said they were able to gather pieces of an MK 2 fragmentation grenade, a defensive hand grenade more commonly known as a “pineapple” grenade because of its shape.

blah

The operatives gathered traces of trinitrotoluene, or commonly known as TNT, from the crime scene.

They have yet to look for the pin, which could still be in the hands of the suspects.

The police refused to blame only 1 fraternity, saying they have yet to collect evidence against certain individuals.

They now have 3 suspects.

Rongavilla said lawyer Jed Carlo Lasaga, who was named by a witness, is not the prime suspect. Lasaga’s testimony has yet to be assessed, he said.

University of San Jose Recoletos Assistant Law Dean Mae Elaine Bathan said their student is not connected to any fraternity. He was part of the contingent who joined in the traditional Bar operations or "salubong" for examinees, she said.

She asked the police force to exercise fairness in revealing details.

Fraternity war?

Rongavilla earlier said “an unofficial information (I got), there is a sketch account of a male person wearing a t-shirt with Greek letter emblem
‘AKRho’ who then threw the suspected bomb at [the] Tau Gamma fraternity.”

Alpha Kappa Rho officials already denied they had a hand in the incident, which left 2 female students disabled. Raissa Laurel lost both her legs while another female student lost one leg.

Abs-cbnnews.com sources said the incident was allegedly caused by 2 warring fraternities from the San Beda College.

The source said some individuals were able to initially grab the bomb thrower.

These individuals, however, saw a colleague of the suspect pull out a gun, forcing them to scurry away.

The incident also comes on the heels of the implementation of the election gun ban.

Police officials claimed this was an unfortunate event. They said they had diligently secured the area, with a security plan already in place as early as June.

this is a nice resource on hazing

http://philippineshazing.blogspot.com/

A 15-year-old girl, believed to be a confraternity neophyte, was accidentally shot to death during the initiation rites in Biñan, Laguna Saturday evening, the police said Sunday.
Senior Superintendent Manolito Labador, Laguna police director identified the victim as Glacy Monique Dimaranan who died of a single gunshot wound in the head.

Labador said Dimaranan was undergoing a psychological test as part of the initiation rites of the Scout Royal Brotherhood (SRB) when a member, identified as Edwin Salandanan, accidentally pulled the trigger of the gun that he was pointing at the victim.
He said Wency Marfil, 15, another neophyte, reported the shooting to the police at around 6:30 p.m.

Police arrested five members of the confraternity, four of them minors and one elder member identified as Richard John Layacan, 28, and the fraternity's adviser Erwin del Rosario, 33, in an apartment in Barangay San Vicente where the rites were held.
Recovered was a slug of a 9mm pistol and documents allegedly used in the group's rites.
Salandanan and another member were able to escape and remain at large.

In a follow-up operation Sunday morning, police raided three suspected safe houses of the confraternity, also in Biñan, and recovered four woodenpaddles that bore SRB's seal, a .22 rifle, assorted ammunitions and illegal drug paraphernalia.
Labador said the police were coordinating with the Department of Social Welfare and Development regarding the arrested minors.
In October, the fraternity's chapter in Cavite province was also held responsible for the death of 21-year-old neophyte Elvis Sinalia.
