Fuck. It took me 15 hours to beat MGS2 and I've played 3 for only four hours. School starts tomorrow, lol. I guess I'll play all day so I can get into Guns of the Patriots. It's hard as shit, though. I don't like the radar we're given to locate enemies. It fits the time period, I guess.

Edit: I'll read the Metal Gear Wiki for MGS 3 and start 4.

It's certainly different, but once I got into it I found 3 to be the strongest game in the series, by a long way.

After reading the in-depth summary, I feel that the story is likely stronger than 2's. I'll come back and finish it later. I want to see those cut scenes. On to 4, I guess.

Yeah. 3 Is Definitely one of the best for me. Gameplay and Storywise. It's powerful and doesn't suffer from its convulsions the same way MGS2 just sort of dissolves at the end.

The joys of taking a late night train in New York. The train was held up for nearly a half hour because someone was on the tracks. Whether they were there accidentally or were trying to kill themselves I really don't have a fucking clue. Thankfully someone spotted them before the train got there and alerted the authorities.

Well if you want the cutscenes but not the gameplay, can't you just go to YouTube?

Or they were pushed. Which would be horrible, but sadly given semi-recent events a very real possibility.

I suppose anyone who goes "get a tablet cuz laptops are obsolete :smug: " could be saying it by implication?

True. But considering how deserted the subways tend to be at 3 in the morning I'm leaning towards other explanations.

I want the gameplay too.

MGS 4 is solid so far. The sneaking system is better, I think. The mimicry stealth suit is pretty cool. I'll have to get used to using the right analog stick for shooting, though.

As soon as a cut scene mentioned Naomi, I quit the game and read the summary for MGS, which I haven't played either.

Apparently our local station is very popular with "trespassers" as the local train company's parlance goes. Nice and quiet most of the day, no where overlooking it and lots of expresses.

But seriously people, if you are going to kill yourself by jumping in front of a train, you are making sure no one will remember you fondly. So a) don't jump in front of the train and fuck up the driver's life and any witnesses and screw up the day of anyone who just got delayed and missed work etc and b) maybe don't kill yourself at all and seek some help?

I kind of wish I'd got my grandma to get a tablet rather than a laptop, she'd find it much easier to use I think (for reference, she's confused by her mobile phone and watches her hand when she moves the mouse for her laptop)

She'd still have needed a keyboard, because what she wants to do is write a book, but she could have got that separately. Two years and she still never uses the thing (and it's quite good-quality, she didn't believe me when I said 'the cheapest one in the shop will be more than enough for what you want to do') and the fucker at the shop talked her into buying an extended warranty.

There's a lot of references in MGS4 you'll miss out on if you haven't played the other games. It's like watching Return of the Jedi without seeing the first two movies in the trilogy.

I heard a lot of people complain that you could just shoot your way through everything.

Sure, you could, but where's the fun in that?

So I noticed you slipped that in there.

Let me get this straight; iPads are worthless and actual tablets are far superior devices (actually, pretty much anything produced by Apple is fairly mediocre but anyway)

therefore i'm afraid of them

am i getting it right guys :psyduck:

So whats wrong with them? Cause I want to replace my playbook and I find Apples interface to be easy to use.

Hm, yeah at 3am it does seem rather unlikely.

This is certainly the ideal.

This is why you don't let old people shop unsupervised. And if you're with them make sure you've got final veto.

It should be fine by reading extensive and detailed summaries. Plus, the "X" quick item events show flashes of events for recollection. I know what REX is. I know what FOXDIE is. I know who Naomi is. I played through MGS 2 and read up on Snake Eater. I don't think it will be bad.

I always play on easy because of the knubs, at least on my first run through. I am not good with controllers. I don't know if hardcore gamer have such excuses.

knubs, the main appeal of MGS4 is for nostalgia
I mean the gameplay is really good, but you'll see pretty soon that there's barely any of it, it's at least 3/4 cutscenes. If you don't have an emotional connection with the earlier games it'll be a struggle to get through to the end. Hell, MGS1 was one of my favourite games as a kid and MGS4 was still a chore a lot of the time.

Well roguice, I was there to advise, but at the end of the day it's her money so

There's only a handful of scenes where you could feasibly "shoot your way through" anyway, but I always played on Normal. Some scenes basically require stealth if you want to advance at all.
