I meant the private insurance part of your health plan.

In France, the Social Security cover some percentage / amount of health expenses depending of the expenses in question, and then you have private "Mutuelles" which cover part or totality of what the SS doesn't cover. You just have to pay a monthly fee.

In my case, for example, my mother's Mutuelle helped to pay for my braces (which cost €600 per semester).

And right now, working for the CEA, I benefit from a really good mutuelle, which cost me something like €20 a month.

So I was wondering if you had some kind of similar health insurance system in Canada.
No.

We do. It's all a scam, of course, like anything else the private sector does.

I don't have anything at the moment.

America fuck yeah, sort of: Medicaid, the health insurance program for the poor, covers dental.

Qualifying for medicaid is a bunch of bullshit I could rant about for a while, but if you have it.... it's kinda awesome. (in New York anyway, idk about other states) I fucking loathe private health insurance, that's when you pay a big company to tell you "no" when you need something. Worst shit of my life.

But Medicaid was always pretty good to me, and our family. I had regular cleanings, fillings when needed, braces for years, and two wisdom teeth out, and even a couple hospital stays over the years, at zero dollar cost to me. The second hospital stay got picked up by Medicaid after the fact too! When they were considering oral surgery for my other two wisdom teeth, Medicaid would have covered that too, but it didn't happen for other reasons.

If only we could make these things universal, then we'd really have something going.
In the name of the moon, I will punish you!

Maybe. It's ambiguous, like all art. :)

I seriously don't know what to do. I can't afford to see my GI doctor (he won't run the tests for free to check for the obvious causes like cancer and internal bleeding). I could go to the ER, but that will cost too much, saddling me with more medical debt.

Probably, but they wouldn't be able to run the necessry tests.

I contacted the on call doctor at my GI office. He told me it's likely blood in the stool and I should take some Prilosec and see the doctor as soon as possible. he said that if I have another BM that looks the same, go to the ER.

Just make sure you get it done under a general anesthetic. You really do not want to be awake for that.

Dear Christ follow this man's advice whatever you do.

That local crap just don't cut it. At all.

Well yeah, if a local isn't owrking they should go with the gas. But local was all it took for mine. I mean it still hurt, but not for long, once the tooth was out it didn't hurt until the local wore off and I had pain medication for that, not that I needed it after a couple days.

Yeah, I did with local and it was mostly just a dulled ache when they were removed.

Though I'd recommend against trying to walk several blocks home in the middle of summer afterwards. You might collapse partway there and end up spending the rest of the day having weird hallucinations.

This is what I was talking about when I said the locals don't cut it. And they kept giving me doses until they said they couldn't give any more.

And yet I can still honestly say I know what it feels like to have your teeth pulled.

I think I'm going to go to the hospital because I had another BM and it looked like I crapped sludge. I'm kind of worried.

Interestingly enough, despite the local not doing jack and/or shit at the time my wisdom teeth were getting pulled, I didn't need the pain meds they subscribed at all. The nausea from the painkillers easily overcame the limited benefit they provided in suppressing the little to no pain I felt, even the day of the procedure, so I didn't bother.

i think the fact that in the past week sequels to Veronica Mars and Planescape Torment, eg, marketing based on brand recognition and nostalgia, managed to make and break million-dollar goals in less than one day each while this neat little idea for a kind of show that has never been done before and actually has value beyond basic entertainment like the switch will almost certainly not even make the comparatively paltry 75000 it needs in 30 days (while also producing solid sample work and a breakdown of their budget needs down to the cost of catering and insurance) would make me, were I a jealous and angry God, feel comfortable condemning the human race again

on the plus side I went to this 'It's A Girl' film screening/ advocacy against gendercide thing tonight, and sinister religious conservative undertones didn't even appear until the end of the Q&A with the tory MP for Langley! high fives everybody

Because if you choose the option of feeling no pain or discomfort rather than the one of being awake while people are rooting out things from your mouth ; you are not an adult.
