Because he's handsome and played by a witty actor, I assume.
Doesn't seem unreasonable to me

Btw thanks for getting back to me and I'm sorry I didn't get back to you, I was booked up pretty quick by family commitments.

Watching it now, looks like he's going with the "it's creepy because they're fourteen and blatantly sexualized" angle rather than the "it's girly and stupid" angle.
Though i'm sure he'll get to the latter.

I kinda like the implicit assumption that in order to be empowering for women a work must necessarily be chaste and desexualized. LOL!Infinity Biscuit wrote:And then I'll just link this

Anyways, I finished reading through the reissued manga (now just gotta wait for the short story collections), and not only is it interesting to see the range of sexual expression in the series (the celibacy of Rei, the casual relationships of Minako, the secondariness of sex/romance to Ami, and Makoto's desire for monogamy among the inners, and then the lesbian couple and Pluto's ambiguity, alongside the increasingly obvious premarital sexual relationship Usagi and Mamoru have), but Stars is basically everybody crushing on Usagi; first Seiya, then Tin Nyanko, then finally Galaxia crowing about how after she makes Usagi's boyfriend lick her boots and monologues about her alienation enough, Usagi will "see the truth" and
ANYWAYS- I'll have some free time this Friday evening (plans fell through, got some stuff to do at the beginning and end), and I'm going to take suggestions- should I go see The Wolverine, Gravity, or stay home and start watching LoGH or Twin Peaks?

Are you going to be seeing either of the movies with someone else? If you'd just be by yourself, I'd say watch something at home, but I'm also boring and cheap.

Probably just by myself, unless I can convince someone to go Dutch to the movies. Eh, Wolverine's basically a comedy option, so I guess it's "Do I see Gravity, Twin Peaks, or animes?", in which case I might well split the difference and watch some animes and then some Twin Peaks.Infinity Biscuit wrote:Are you going to be seeing either of the movies with someone else? Just go see The Wolverine. It'll be fucking awesome.
On a much sadder note, while browsing random shit on Wikipedia because hell, not like I have anything better to do, I have just discovered that this was the highest watched American television program for the 2012-2013 season.
We have clearly failed as a nation.

also, it's on vhf, so it doesn't fall under the cable fragmentation, but it gets the benefits of cable syndication too

Re: Testing Chat V: The Final Mysterious Island: Miami Beach
ncis isn't even the worst show out there
really the #1 slot could be a lot worse
it could be two and a half men or the big bang theory
actually the big bang theory isn't so bad now. i really disliked its first and maybe second season, i don't recall (i watched it tho cuz every monday i went to a friend's house and they loved it for some reason), but now it is fairly watchable.
i think the introduction of the female characters really helped it. there weren't any for a while leaving the cast as only the poorly written "nerds" and the list of extremely shallow "nerd" references - clearly chuck lorre hasn't got a fucking clue
but wait you say, penny was in the pilot. no not really. kaley cuoco was in the pilot, but she had.... seriously i think one line that wasn't "hi" or "ok"
anyway without the women, the show was JUST really lame references and annoying sheldon without anyone to play off, oh yeah and creepazoid howard. horrible.
i still don't think it is great tv but it is at least ok now
huh wikipedia says chuck lorre was executive producer on roseanne and mike and molly too. come to think of it i know he was involved in mike and molly (another show btw that had a horrible first few episodes - its funny because they're fat, get it, har har - but has now come into its own and is actually my favorite of the monday night cbs shows. still not great television, but i actually do kinda like it), but roseanne genuinely surprises me
though maybe it shouldn't given how much of the roseanne cast was on the big bang theory
idk, maybe that show was good because he just forked over some money for the EP credit while people with actual talent did all the writing

NCIS is pretty good, but it's no JAG.
