what is this shit
apparently everyone in 1940s America was completely colourblind, and the nazis were the only racists ever? I mean, god-damn, for all its faults at least DS9's terrible 1950s lounge singer shit dealt with this stuff
also it's pretty lulzy that the ugly xindi were the ones who turned out to be evil

well OK, fine
the most ugly xindi (the reptilloids and the insectians) turned out to be the most evil ones, while the somewhat more human-looking species ended up switching sides

the missionaries were just here again, they brought an investigator to me! (well, the investigator drove them but regardless)

i got to talk about the stuff i was just blabbing about here with universal salvation and judged by your works. which actually i think weakens the drive for people to be baptized - even accepting that it is all true, if they are already saved and are judged by their works, why do they need the organized church?

i decided to counter that by saying the church helps bring us to the next level. though i didn't wanna bring up exaltation myself, i just said the gospel helps us get that much better and closer to Christ, but one of the missionaries knew where i was going and decided to say the vocab word

personally i'm kinda iffy on this too cuz righteousness comes neither from punishment nor reward. if you are just choosing the right because you think it will personally profit you, are you really being Christ-like at all?

but that's another discussion for another time.

anywho, omg i got to read a scripture from my vast memory out loud too!!!!!!!!
Away with all your superstition, servile masses, arise, arise!
well, no, but you'd be forgiven for thinking much of this stuff came from the same source as that lololol. seriously,
Mosiah 4:26 wrote:I would that ye should impart of your substance to the poor, every man according to that which he hath, such as feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and administering to their relief, both spiritually and temporally, according to their wants.
oh king benjamin... or should i say COMRADE BENJAMIN?!?!!?!?!?

no what i actually decided to read was:
Mosiah 2:22 wrote: And behold, all that he requires of you is to keep his commandments; and he has promised you that if ye would keep his commandments ye should prosper in the land; and he never doth vary from that which he hath said; therefore, if ye do keep his commandments he doth bless you and prosper you.
it seemed more appropriate to the discussion at hand

i got a scripture reference for this too. from THE CANON OF THE SISKO and oh i dont have to look this one up

Bashir: "What I want to know is, of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"

Garak: "My dear Doctor, they're all true..."

Bashir: "Even the lies?"

Garak: "Especially the lies."

God that Xindi shit was the dumbest shit ever. They make a prototype of their super weapon and what do they do? Send it to Earth and try it out on FL. That's like the Japanese in in 1935 flying a single plane over Pearl Harbor to test a new torpedo. It's fucking ridiculous.

The Writers had to have their 9/11 analogy, and the hunt for the Xindi to keep them from making more weapons of mass destruction so they could have an analogy for the Iraq War too, except the Xindi actually were making a WMD.

Television in the 2001-2004 period had this odd obsession with copying or integrating the War on Terror into it's plots to seem "topical." Still, it was a decent attempt at a season long arc, and way better than anything in Seasons 1 or 2.

The Xindi attack was more like Hiroshima than Pearl Harbour
It's not like the Enola Gay had a lot of escort
And it was a superweapon
9/11 didn't involve WMDs

Edit: I do totally agree that the story arc that follows is totally the War on Terror IN SPACE

I liked the arc purely because it did so many things that Voyager should have done
adr rox worship him or suffer large
and so forth, etc.
also STAR TREK

Alledgedly, hat was the final 'fuck you' from Brannon and Braga. They got to write the S3 ending before control of the show went to Coto so they gave him the most monumentally I'M A JUGGALO WOOP WOOP cliffhanger they could think of. That's also why it got wrapped up real fast in the next episode and then never mentioned again.

Their final "fuck you" was 'These are the Voyages' the Enterprise series finale which I will not describe as it will lower iq points.

I kind of get what they were going for with the inclusion of the TNG characters in "These are the Voyages." Enterprise sunk, sunk so bad even the vastly improved fourth season couldn't save it. Combine that with the incredibly shitty performance of Nemesis, and everybody knew this was the end for trek. They wanted to create something that would serve as a proper finale for the Star Trek franchise as a whole rather than just a finale for Enterprise, kind of like "Epilogue" did for the DCAU.

The problem is that B&B suck so hard that they chronically fail at everything they do, so not only was it a crappy send of for the trek franchise as a whole, it was incredibly insulting to anyone who actually cared about the Enterprise characters because it made them guests in their own finale. The one thing that I think the finale did well was that final shot of all various Enterprises with the voice over in the background.

I just noticed the new word filter. I thought we stopped doing those after it went monumentally wrong the last time?

Los put that one in to put his foot down about the use of offensive language

That said I had forgotten about it entirely and thought 'the most monumentally I'M A JUGGALO WOOP WOOP cliffhanger' was great phrasing

I've seen Starship Troopers 3: Marauder on classy Channel 5 yesterday evening and while Jolene Blalock is a relatively solid actress, but my God was that film badly written and badly made (with the CGI towards the end reminding me of a FMV cutscene from a mid to late 1990s Westwood Studios video game). And LOL at the Afro-American in the Faux Nazi uniform.

I knew Testing was curtailed and the Senate was permanently shut down, contributing to the downfall of SD.Net and its current marginalisation, but what really kicked off the Weekend of Hell? I knew about the protracted spat between Havok and Poe.
