I wonder if a anyone has ever done the opposite of you Tim, and tricked out their actual rifle to look more Nerf-like (bright blue and yellow stocks/grips/etc).

Well, there are the various examples of LadySmith-ery:
although this one looks like a Colt Detective Special.
Tasers tend to be fluorescent yellow or lime green IIRC, but they aren't guns. Guns are SRS BZNZ and are colored SRSLY unless you're some kinda artsy-fartsy wierdo.
EDIT I think it says "Smith & Wesson" on the barrel, so example present.

I suppose it'd depend on where you shoot. That indoor pistol range my friends and I went to had a pretty normal atmosphere, so I doubt a Hello Kitty gun would get more than a few chuckles.
The outdoor range we went to yesterday was in a more "rural" area, and was what my friend Allen described as a "Bubba Range." The crowd there was decidedly....... stranger than the other one. I think you'd get a few looks or insults there.

When I was doing archery, our instructor's car had a Zebra paintjob, with a plastic zebra glued on the car's body in a Spirit of Ecstasy impression.
He was a pretty cool guy.

i think it makes sense that you wouldn't see a rifle painted up like a toy nerf gun
guns can actually kill you
black is a sombre reminder of this fact

Yeah. No ringing this time, even though the guns were certainly louder. Although this one time Eric (another friend of ours) Fired some sort of Glock pistol less than 3 feet away from me without any warning so that startled me a bit.

Go out shooting with my uncle, the collector: plugs. Go out shooting with my brother-in-law, the farmer: no plugs, overloaded rounds.

At a guess, too much powder in the manually-loaded cartridge ?

++P++ 9 mil. Pour the powder in that .303 case to the neck and stuff in a bullet! YeeeHHAAAWWW! or the Australian equivalent.
Collectors here in the US tend to fire "Cowboy" loads.

Those are all low powered right?
I'm hesitant to exceed the max load listed for my .30-30, even though Marlin makes a solid gun. Would suck to have invested all that money in reloading and then blow my face off.
My 77/44 might be ok, bolt actions are inherently stronger then levers.

The few Wal-Marts I've been in recently have been selling them, for $30 - $40, I believe.

Who might be inclined to help a brother out? By which I mean letting me know postage and giving me your paypal/bank details so I can throw trust at you in the form of currency.
