Never seen it.

I'd say it was Quebec motorcyle drug gangs but mailing a foot to Parliament is kinda nuts even for them.

if they did then either everyone would be ok or they'd lose the even theoretical power to ever do it

this is why they never do

its not like it's an axe hanging over english democracy

not like, y'know, massive authoritarianism for decades is/has been

Started playing Everquest again. It's a horrible, broken wreck that simply cannot hide the fact that it is a creaking dinosaur of a game... but I'm still loving it. Way back in the day it was one of the only things that got several members of my family together, and today, compared to most other MMO's, the general community that remains (plus a fair number of the new players drawn in by the recent switch it made to F2P) is one of the most coherent, supportive, and non-assholish...

...But since this is also the community of the oldest 3d MMO, it also contains one of the highest levels of fatty-neckbeard resistance to any change, no matter how needed. Dear god, people suggest changes to the most broken aspects of the game that have no place there except for pure inertia, and you can almost hear the lard quivering in rage as posts start flowing in, all with some variation of "It was good enough for us a decade ago, why should we change it now?"

i like to think the GG is a last resort against a crazy House of Commons led by a mad Prime Minister, never to use his power until the future of the country requires it

and it would be a sacrifice

since we'd get rid of him or her right after

we had ours do that already in the 60s or 70s, although i'd hope that the changes to the electoral process will prevent it happening again

its like when americans ask 'why would anyone resign when they get no confidence'

cause way at the back of the hallway of political options is a little man or woman who will sack their ass that's why

oh man i think the queen ruled sir joh too

but i can see where uk republicans are coming from
because they will surely understand that most people who like the monarchy actually just like the queen
and once she's gone GOD SAVE THE QUEEN i think it'll be much easier for the population to look clearly at the monarchy as a pro and a con rather than as a charming old lady everyone likes
and they gotta lay the groundwork so in a decade or whatever people can say
hey we don't actually need a monarchy at all
three generations of qe2 have no interest in this new person

'She's a sweet old duff' is like 80% of anti-republic stuff in Australia

The remaining 20% forgot we are no longer part of the British empire
