Except she clearly wasn't when she was attending the coronation. :colbert:

Yeah but as a character within the show she'd have no concept of this "Hasbro" thus the cartoon is wrong, QED.

I'm sure I remember Luna glaring at Twilight during the coronation

I remember the same thing.

I also remember how skeptical of Celestia's decision to send the Mane 6 to the Crystal Empire instead of her Luna seemed to be in the first episode of season 3.

My own interpretation of Luna --kind of supported by canon what with the whole "Nightmare Moon" thing and what we've seen in the Nightmare Night episode-- is that she's not a people person.

Oh and also that the Elements of Harmony didn't reform her, that she's just bidding her time to try her chance again at overthrowing her sister, and that she'll be trying to convert Princess Twilight and Cadence to her side in some sort of Lunar Heresy. :fukyu:

A-hem. That should be she's not a pony...pony? Pony mare? Equine pony?

God damn it I don't know how to ponify people person curse you English language :psyduck:

You've been reading 40k again, haven't you?

Oh well at least you're not not-writing a silly crossover fanfic or anything.

No, I haven't been reading 40k again.

But I like to go with the idea that even the Elements of Harmony didn't succeed in purging her spirit from the taint of jealousy and resentment, and that, covertly as the Moon can be, as she's been able to see once that trying to directly confront her sister cannot work, she's advancing her pawns in the kind of schemes only an immortal being can conceive, so that one day she will be the sole and only ruler of Equestria - or at least that SHE will be the Big Sister of the pair as far as everyone is concerned.

Oxy, are you serious

*shrug*

Well, I know it's not what going to happen in MLP, but I think this add an interesting layer to the show, that Luna still resent her sister and play an immortal's game of trying to finally get on top, one way or another, over her sister.

I don't do it justice with how I present the idea.

How about a team-up with Discord? He did promise to use his powers mostly for good.

I remember hearing some crackpot theory where the Elements who were friends with Celestia are all evil now.

Well, my own idea was that the reason Celestia wanted Discord reformed was to have him on her side the day the masks would fall.

You have something against Cadance or is this all coincidence?
Oxymoron wrote:I also remember how skeptical of Celestia's decision to send the Mane 6 to the Crystal Empire instead of her Luna seemed to be in the first episode of season 3.
So instead of giving Oxy's crazy theories legitimacy, I've been thinking about this instead.

Because really, I think Luna's skepticism was totally justified here. Without having the Elements in hand hoof, the Mane Six have a poor track record WRT defeating ancient evils.

I mean really their best showing was their first adventure and after that they kinda fumbled a lot.

Think about Discord. He actually did break every one of the Mane Six and absolutely would have won, except for a direct intervention from Celestia which brought Twilight back and gave her the idea to save the others. Had that not happened, Chocolate Rain would still be pouring over Equestria.

And sure, they did a pretty good job fighting Changelings during the wedding. But they still failed to obtain the Elements in the end. Plus, Chrysalis managed to turn everybody, Celestia included, against Twilight. She would have won had she not been too clever/cruel for her own good in sending Twi to Cadance with the intent to have Twi attack her. And even then, again, the Mane Six failed and got captured and it was Cadance and Shining Armor who saved the day.

So here we are at the Crystal Empire thing, so of course I can see where Luna is questioning the wisdom of sending Twilight and Friends out there, alone, and not even with the Elements handy just in case. Especially because the two who did save the kingdom last time are clearly being overwhelmed by Sombra.

And Hell, Luna was right. The Mane Six did fail, or would have, if it weren't for a certain baby dragon. The Mane Five failed at keeping the Crystal Ponies from falling into despair, and I'm pretty sure Twilight herself would still be stuck in that Despair Vision if it weren't for Spike blatantly ignoring her orders to him. And even if you want to grant she might have saved herself from that eventually, she was still trapped and couldn't get the Crystal Heart to Cadance on her own. That's right, had Spike not ignored Twilight's direct orders, the Crystal Empire would have fallen again and Celestia and Luna would have to go fight Sombra themselves.

you know I don't think the hokey plot conviences around Shining Armour and Cadence can be made fun of enough. so these images please me.

In other fandom news I have been reading the Dresden Fillies:
http://www.fimfiction.net/story/8657/Th ... ge-Friends

Which acually does a decent job of blending mlp with the dresden files and telling an action packed story for a conclusion that does a fairly good job of being true to both franchises.

Though the sequel does contain a few too many nods to fanon for my tastes. Like Doctor Whooves and the companion, and Bon-Bon/Lyra stuff.

@ Rogue : You know, I agree with you completely. The Mane Six do a terrible job at being magical girls.

But I was more latching on everything that could justify my crazy theory :v

I like to think of the mane 6 as Celestia's personal hit-squad
Discord breaking their spirits only for Celestia to send those letters and win the day was actually exactly according to keikaku

oh, and I like to think of what the EoH did to Luna as something akin to the Total Perspective Vortex from H2G2, except instead of showing the target exactly how tiny and insignificant they are, it gave her a great big friendship-hug

also Cadence is pretty great (I especially liked her in the pony olympics episode (warning: fuckoff hug gif)), I just post any funny comics I find
