Is Hollywood making up for its past slights or just hates the US with leaving us last in release dates lately? :(

Personally I've never understood why they can't just release worldwide at the same time, those jerks. :colbert:

Because now I have to dodge any and all threads that may be about the movie to avoid spoilers. :failure:

at this point the number of trans people (and queers in general) i knew from that school - which only had around ~800 students from all grades combined when i went there - is statistically improbable

like either the number of trans people is vastly under-estimated and as it's becoming socially acceptable young people are coming out much more than ever before*

or they were /really/ successful at teaching us to be the bride of christ

*not actually my belief, entirely a set-up for the bride of christ joke
self-reporting phone surveys suggest that about 3% of americans identify as trans

when you write 'self-reporting phone survey', what does that mean exactly?

they call a random sampling up and ask them a bunch of questions about themselves. this leads to about 3% identifying as trans. this suggests, assuming truly unbiased sampling (and this is a significant assumption), that the proportions are actually somewhat higher, for the same reason that there are more people who regularly have sex with people of the same gender than are openly gay- trans and gay carry connotations that aren't always shared by people who fit the denoted definition.

However, depending on how they worded the questions, this could also overrepresent by using questions that produce false positives (eg by adding in stuff about gender roles). I just read it on a website a while back so I have no idea either way.

Even if it's just 1%, that still mean that potentially one in every hundred person you see could be trans.

That's pretty high I'd say.

Try melatonin. One of the first times I used it I dreamt I was a racetrack. Then I woke up and needed to piss, but decided I couldn't move for a while. Because I was a racetrack.

Given melatonin is a neurotransmitter I'm not surprised your mind would go all funky after ingesting some.

I'm using it in conjunction with the B6. I might add other things depending on what I can dig up; right now I'm experimenting with different dosages. Last night I had a dream I was talking to recruiters for the Russian military, and then I had an argument with some Asian landlords who I kept trying to talk to. They told me I was prying too much and couldn't be seen in public with them because I was white, so I told them to fuck off. Not very impressive content but holy fuck it was lifelike.

We got into see the GP today for our Hep and HIV results and he goes "so...what did you want these for?"

So I explained aboit our lifestyle and he goes "well stop it, there's too much stuff out there."

Yeah, no shit. Thats why we came to you. Wasn't expecting the judgement though.

Val's adamant that we find a new one now. That'll be a challenge.

I'd say she's on to something. Having a doctor who seems quick to judge you rather than just help you can make visits something to absolutely dread. I'm stuck with a certain specialist since he's the only one in a three hour radius but if I could get to someone who seems like less of a dick I'd switch in a heartbeat.

Oh I'm behind her 100% on it, theres just a massive shortage atm but there is a walk in clinic 45 mins away who have seen us before for it, so we'll go there for now.

Yeah... I went to see a therapist once and the first visit he asked me if I was religious. When I said, "No," he suggested letting Jesus into my life would help me get better.

I found someone else...

If you told him something like you're going bareback with complete strangers you meet only that night and probably drunk, I could see a point to a doctor telling you something like that.

But since I'm pretty sure that is not an accurate description of your lifestyle and that you take sensible precautions than yeah, a little too judgmental.

If the doctor told you to stop eating shitty foods cause it damages your body, would you look for another doctor too?

This is just the straw, dude. For the first six months or so, he would talk to Val through me. He would rush Val and my daughter's exams (he was visibly uncomfortable). Now, if it were just me, I would shrug and carry on but its not.

Amd to be honst, recent events around here have made me realize that I need to give more respect to both my wife and my daughter's instincts.

fair enough dude

i was just thinking on some family medical stuff recently, and one of the bigger issues was bouncing between doctors because they 'didn't like them' or thought they were 'intrusive'

So, I'm currently kind of growing a beard (I have been too lazy to shave these last three weeks...), and I have to say it doesn't look bad

However I sense that if I were to try to keep it it's going to be a pain in the ass to maintain.

That and it's starting to smell...

Or. Open a beer, get in the shower. Drink half the beer. Use the rest to rinse beard.

i had a beard going for like 4 months, from xmas to april cuz i didnt feel like shaving either

what gets really gross is soup dripping into it, or having a runny nose. blargh. but the winter wind totally feels different with a beard, i found myself missing it after cutting it off on the colder days

Someone needs to invent some sort of face guard.
