first she puts on the suit

then she has to talk harvey down from the windowsill because he met a labour voter today

he rants about the end of the world and socialism for about thirty minutes

then he starts calling her maggie and she has to go back for a grey wig to put on the pony costume

i find that i'm starting to involuntarily make noises as i envision this further so i will stop for now

May I be charitable and assume these noises are related to nausea or other types of gastrointestinal distress?

Because I really don't want to assume that they're the other kind of noises.

I remember there was a guy on the Total Annihilation forum who, in IRC, admitted that he had sexual fantasies about Margaret Thatcher

Any other old TAU posters here may remember him as PeterC, or Peter Cuthbertson

"Women love power[ful men]." Heard: I bet p much whenever you hear about some middle aged/old guy with lots of power having an affair with an intern or something who's like half his age.

Sometimes I think the sexes are a lot more like each other in terms of what attracts them than the conventional wisdom thinks they are.

So, I'm watching Apocalypse Now. Long movie, so I'm watching it bit by bit. Called it quit tonight two hours in, when they're in the French plantation.

Goddamn, that movie is... surreal. The "apocalypse" part of the title takes on a new meaning for me.

I love that movie.
I love the plantation scene, especially the dinner.
I love it all.

I don't think I've ever seen that scene. Fantastic movie though.

It's in the re-release. Redux. It was cut for being very long and talky and politicy. But that's why it's good says I.

My favourite is the scene in the trenches with the guy and his blooper. It sums up the war so well.

"blooper" ? What's that ? The grenade launcher ?

Are you talking about the scene where they are at the bridge battleground ? Man, that was... so absurd and senseless.

... Goddamn that scene... Seeing all the men desperately trying to get into the boat... It evoked image of lost souls in the Styx trying to get on Charon's boat.

And re-building the bridge everyday, for it to be blown up everyday... Totally Sisyphus.

Yep, that's it.

I can see what you mean by "it sums up the war so well".

And that poor guy who dropped acid, and is thrown into that surreal situation. Man, that must have been a unique kind of trip he got out of the experience.

... Poor souls.

I'll finish that movie tomorrow.

Tool? Were they on the soundtrack? I don't recall them being. You might be thinking of Shinedown.
