Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat

Yeh pigs are pretty smart
Such a shame about that whole bacon thing

Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat
Smarter than dogs from what I hear.
But that doesn't stop me from eating dog when I have the chance, so my conscious is clear.

Certainly smarter then half of my dogs.
We caught them trying to dig their way out a couple days ago. Totally my fault but their stall is now all plywood sides.

Just went down to give them their water for the night and one of them decides to tug my pant leg out of my boot!
Mischievous little thing.

Maybe you shouldn't get attached to them. That might make it harder to turn them into bacon later.
Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat
These two are keepers, for breeding. I have an order in for a boar and it's their piglets that will be eaten. I want these ones friendly and used to people or they will be difficult to manage when they are grown.
Kind of a long term plan. Hopefully the first litter will be April next year.

Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat
Okay so when I said 12 hours give or take, I apparently meant give or take a day
Sorry about that
Anyhow, apparently yes they do need access to some warm water in winter, but it doesn't need to be enough to swim in
So long as there's enough for them to have a bit of a waddle and do their thing in (which often involves shitting, yay mucky water) they'll be okay
Apparently it's important for their digestion to do this
So a whole heated pond wouldn't be necessary, unless you want luxurious ducks
You might end up wanting luxury for them lol, my mum totally emphasised that they do become friends with you, and that they're remarkably intelligent for birds
As for dealing with cold (and keeping in mind our coldest winter nights are -5 Celsius), a windproof shelter and some nice dry hay to bed on were enough here, they do have the advantage of wearing duck down
But totally seek some local advice in case the extra 20 or however many degrees difference is enough to be fatal
And I just remember now I asked nothing about breeds, sorry
Ps pigs are the best for many reasons, including but not limited to bacons

Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat
couple of random questions:
1) Did anyone here watch farscape?
2) If you have, can you tell me what episode it is where there's a dramatic shootout and Crichton is crawling on the floor singing at the top of his lungs like a lunatic in the chaos and I think he's crawling towards or away from Scorpius?

Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat
Yeah, it's part of the 'Liars, Guns, and Money' trilogy at the end of season 2. It's at the end of the first episode.

In other TV news, it seems Amazon Prime has a bunch of HBO series on Instant Watch now, which is awesome. Not just because I can now rewatch The Wire at will (though that is pretty awesome in and of itself) but also "Ancient Boobs and Blood" aka Rome the completely historically accurate portrayal of Roman history.
I've also been kind of curious about John Adams so I can give that a try as well.

Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat
just heard Edgar Wright is no longer doing the Ant Man film
To the Brave passengers and crew of the Kobayashi Maru... Sucks to be you
Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat
Why is there even an Ant Man film
Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat
how else are we going to see his amazing wife-beating powers in glorious 3-D?
Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat
I'm genuinely curious to see if they're gonna go with the wife-beating stuff.

i can basically guarantee the answer is noStofsk wrote:I'm genuinely curious to see if they're gonna go with the wife-beating stuff.
they didn't even make an issue of iron man's alcoholism, they're not going to have a superhero who abuses his spouse
Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat
I heard that they're going with some other guy who isn't Hank Pym as the main character, so probably not

Stephen Lang. In the comics he's a thief who stole the Ant-man gear from Pym, but I don't know how they'll introduce him in the MCU.
Re: Testing Chat Episode VI: Return of the Chat
True, they did kind of half-arse it with the Iron Mang films. Having said that, at least in IM3 they had Tony hit kind-of rock bottom without the alcoholism.Losonti Tokash wrote:i can basically guarantee the answer is noStofsk wrote:I'm genuinely curious to see if they're gonna go with the wife-beating stuff.

Not that I expect much from Disney.
