Tool? Were they on the soundtrack? I don't recall them being. You might be thinking of Shinedown.

He means Tool; the character played by Mickey Rouke.

Finished watching Apocalypse now.

I'm... not sure of what exactly happened at the end.
No.

Just remember that it's overrated and laughable in its commentary. I can see how it was well received upon release, but it doesn't appear to hold up well at all.

Because you can always depend on Knub's infallible judgment regarding movies. :v

I'm not sure either. Obviously Willard goes back, mission accomplished.

Don't you go that way, Oni. I'm tired of bullshit drama started without provocation.

Aaron : Yeah, this I get. But I don't understand the
"Drop the Bomb on them" bit, and Willard's refusal to do so. Is that some sort of final fuck you to Kurtz, a way of telling him post-mortem to assume his own mistakes ? Or what ? I don't really know what to do of that.

Gawd I'm tired out of my skull. Going to bed. Got a fucking glorious day of school ahead of me...

VHDL, here I come~~

From what I hear, this was because Marlon Brando didn't give half a shit about the movie.

Kurtz was apparently supposed to be this buff authoritative psychopath, but then Brando showed up being morbidly obese and having never bothered to read the script. So they instead filmed him rambling incoherently in the dark (in order to hide his fat) and replaced the planned fight scene with Martin Sheen hacking him apart with a machete.

I actually thought the incoherence fit in quite nicely with the rest of the film's themes.

Am I the only one who thought that Kurtz looked awfully like Mussolini ?
No.

Also, you can't deny the lineage between Martin and Charlie Sheen, physically at least.
No.

it fits with one of the themes in the film, that the war was a rambling mess with no plan or interest in winning.

I don't think many people would argue that those two are related, no.

Oh. Right. Him.

Heh... forgot about that. I guess I was just in a music oriented state of mind this morning.

All day I was like, "He can't be thinking of Shinedown...!" :smug:

Then I get back here and now it's like :smugissar:

It just felt empty to me after all was said and done. I didn't enjoy anything in the movie outside of Robert Duvall's stuff. I felt what was shown did not pay off in any meaningful manner. I wasn't impressed by the themes presented about war. I guess I was spoiled by my love for The Thin Red Line, which I saw prior to Apocalypse Now.

Bro, I have impeccable taste and my opinions should be marveled by all cinephiles. Bow before me, Oni.

So I work for a Minister now. Yesterday he had me go find a pick up to borrow, then help someone pick up a couch for him.

I show up at the legislature building, park the truck in his spot, harass building maintenance for a shovel to clear the snow with, which the management denies having because grounds keeping handles that work, so I have to look for someone who actually does work and of course they have one, so I'm standing there in a suit shoveling snowing of a pickup while parked in front of the Leg. Another Minister pulls up, his staffer in the passenger seat is scared and confused, walks always quickly. The minister knows me, comes over, and just asks "What the fuck do they have you doing now?" To which I replied, "They want me to do some real work once in a while." He replied that he is jealous and misses it (rural constituency).

My accounting degree is serving me well.

The quote function is a wonderful thing. :v

Now that I've been snarky to the admins...

Did Darths & Droids just call out the rabid hyperinclusionism of the EU to give ever single background character some detailed backstory that makes them Highly Important to the galaxy?

I'm going to say yes. :smug:
