A lot of people say DBZ or Sailor Moon was their first anime.

Not me. It was G-Force: Guardians of Space. AKA Science Ninja Team Gatchaman. And I have to admit, G-Force sends hella better.

Except of course when Cartoon Network was showing it (before they sucked) I had no concept of what anime even was. I just thought it was an older style of cartoon. Same with Speed Racer which I saw later.

Heck before the Internet I though Power Rangers was all made in America. And then my illusion was cruelly shattered when I discovered the terrible truth about Sentai.

What truth could be so terrible that makes power rangers less amazing?

That it's spliced together from Sentai footage instead of being all original as my childhood self believed. Which isn't all that bad a revelation but hey, it sounded more dramatic.

On the other hand, if you're one of the Sentai Snobs, that truth is pretty terrible because PR totally "dumbs down" the "mature, dark, adult" Sentai.

Japanese doesn't really have swears in the same way as English but sometimes the language can get kinda harsh.
