So my friends just made me watch the two new evangelion movies. The remakes or whatever.
I'm trying not to make like a hasty snap opinion on them, or whatever, but they basically seem like a confused morass of really good animation telling an incomplete story full of characters who don't matter or don't belong.
But I'm interested in other people's opinions.

So what's some new weeaboo shit that's good this year? I don't usually watch anime unless it's either from a franchise I like or I get a recommendation. So far i'm keeping up with Gundam AGE and Aquarion Evol (just started this this weekend.) Any other good sci-fi or mecha anime out there right now?

Watch Sakamichi no Apollon. it's airing this season.
Don't even stop to think about it. Trust me.

Doesn't seem like it's out yet. From reading the synopsis, it doesn't really seem like my thing. You're sure it's good?

I am absolutely positive that it will be. This is the time to set aside your apprehension and trust in my conviction.

So this is the first I've heard about it but this is Nabeshin and Yoko Kanno - IE the people behind Cowboy Bebop - doing a show about jazz music.
You know at first I avoided Aquarion because the description I saw of it made me thing it was all "orgasm powered robots. Tee hee hee!" But I honestly ended up liking it more than I thought.

I'll admit, that theme music makes me want to punch something in slow motion while my fist is on fire or something.

My friend said the theme song sounds like it belongs in a musical
well most Kawamori things end up that way
he still thinks the original Aquarion theme is the best though
