eh i kinda like chatting up JWs too, but the last couple times i've had them come to the door, they were just giving out pamphlets and didn't stay very long

an old friend of mine whom i haven't seen for several years is a JW and was in town last month en route to a business meeting. i was hoping to actually talk to her about jesus and about pacifism, but alas the only free time she had here, i had to work all day. so maybe next time

I can't tell if this was on purpose or not, but now you sound like a serial killer.

NSFW : most recurring terms in porn searches per country

Look at the results of South Korea. *smirk*

Also, look at the results of China. I personally find it hilarious.

Special Mention to Syria, too.

And it seems Chile and Peru have something to tell us...

Either someone messed up making that site or someone needs to get Ukraine and Armenia to go on a date

I like how every former USSR country tops off the list with Russian.

well that was interesting, even if I really didn't need to know that North America & Europe is fantasizing about fucking teenagers, Asia is fantasizing about fucking sisters and aunts, and South America has a disproportionate number of searches for gay porn

is 'creampie' a euphemism or are Americans really that obsessed with food?

First-generation Turkish immigrant families in the UK are known for domestic violence problems, something like 5x the average
and India is routinely rated one of the worst countries to be a woman (and there's recently been a quite a lot of protests prompted by that bus rape)
so neither of those are particularly surprising results

virtually every porn ad I've ever seen is like "BARELY LEGAL TEENS"

but just like the chicken and the egg we must ask: which came first, the demand or the advertisements?

most probably the demand

well I think that like the chicken and egg, it is a cycle that reinforces itself. the advertisers see a skew one way and focus on it, then the ads create more demand and shape expectations, which justifies the next advertising budget and so on and then you've skewed things so far the whole thing looks fucked up

the porn industry is very disturbing to me

The porn industry's very disturbing on a lot of levels.

One of the more depressing things I've been thinking about lately is the way (often male) sex-positive people have conflated attacks/defense of pornography as a concept and the current state of the porn industry itself.

What do you mean?

Re: Testing Chat IV: A New Hope

by Infinity Biscuit
For which part?

For the first, the stories I've been reading from inside the porn industry paint a picture of an industry that cares not at all for the consent or wellbeing of the women who star in it. Like, they're openly pressured through threats of dismissal and outright blacklisting to do things they list as things they refuse to do, or to remove them from their profiles outright. And pain and things like that are often outright ignored or even encouraged because it makes it more "real" and is "what the audience wants".

And I know it's entirely possible or likely that the picture I'm getting is darker than the reality since I'm only hearing individual anecdotes (it could be darker too, though) but the fact that it comes up so much means even if it's not common it's not an acceptable part of the industry.

For the second I mean that criticism of the porn industry is shot down by those kinds of people as puritan issue rather than a workers'- or womens' rights issue.
