Testing Chat IV: A New Hope
Re: Testing Chat IV: A New Hope
I meant the later, I was just confused by your wording.
The porn industry has had a reputation for dodgy practices for decades, so none of that surprises me. But I'd be interested to know how much abuse there is in the "independent" porn community, cam girls and the like.

Re: Testing Chat IV: A New Hope
This is a pretty good discussion of the world of cam girls and how wide and varied it is in the way models get treated. From filthy stinking rich to slavery.
It's disturbing stuff.

Re: Testing Chat IV: A New Hope
Looks like "Ebony" is the top porn search term for Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Maryland, and both Carolinas.
Plus Kentucky is the only state with gay male porn in the #1 slot, and Vermont is the only state with lesbian porn in the #1 slot.
And almost all of Venezuela's and Chile's top 10 spots are taken by variations of gay porn, apparently, as is all of Peru's.
It is kinda boring that for most countries the top search is for the nationality of the country in question.

Kanye's album Yeezus leaked. It's freaking me the fuck out, I've listened to it twice now. I don't know if I can sleep. It's so.... dark and unsettling.

Well in Romania cam girls are kept in brothels overseen by abusive pimps (according to Straha's article) "working" in seedy and potentially dangerous conditions for many hours. Also even the more successful and less coerced girls like Mila Milan run afoul of the law:Aaron wrote: But I'd be interested to know how much abuse there is in the "independent" porn community, cam girls and the like.

Seeing a play through there was somebody who ran out of the queue, leapt over the wall, and threw a grenade at a border guard. Also do citizens and immigrants, if their papers are not in order, sometimes bribe you to cross the border? Your character's pay is paltry and your family struggles.

Yes they did. There are suicide bombings and other terrorists too (including 'random' full body scans) and you are bribed by some. It's interesting to see, they actually put some real depth into it.

First you're spamming now you're not even trying for C (or even C+) and just lazying out with Ds? The fuck is wrong with you?! Get your act together. I expect B or better from you from now on (and none of this C++ crap, I don't care how many pluses are behind it it's still a god damn C).adr wrote:omg i just ran a full blown D program on linux/arm

Re: Testing Chat IV: A New Hope
nah i settle for less
because less is more
now fun fact, for a little while i was thinking about getting a college degree in this shit just to have the piece of paper and did a year of COMMUNITY COLLEGE
notice that today i do NOT have said associate's degree, getting mostly C's and D's in the classes.
the main reason is i have a hard time doing anything in winter at 8:00am.
option a: stay in warm bed.
option b: go out into snow, ice, and sub-zero wind chills for a 5 mile walk/bike ride (especially for a class on a topic i was waaaaay beyond the material on. i did that stuff in the lunch periods of my 9th grade!)
i'll take (a) at least 50% of the time, thank you very much
PS don't you fucking dare call it a spring semester. january, february, and march are WINTER months. only someone with the highly educated genius required to be a ridiculously well paid college administrator would call the two coldest months of the god damned year part of the "spring" semester

Re: Testing Chat IV: A New Hope
the funny thing though is i don't have much trouble getting over to my friend's house at 7:30am five to seven days a week to babysit their children for free, even over the cold ass winter months
but the difference is i see that more as a family obligation, whereas school and jobs are selfish. i'll trek through the snow if you need me, but when it is just my paycheck or my credentials, i just don't care enough, i've gone without before and it isn't that bad, things always work out one way or another anyway.

Re: Testing Chat IV: A New Hope
Actually it's an interesting look into the balance between cultural taboos and outlets for societally repressed desires. Porn searches are (relatively) anonymous, so this would be the place to look for what people want or need regardless of societal pressures, and you'd tend to see a slight increase in things that are socially unacceptable/unavailable, as porn searches then become pretty much the only way to address those interests/needs.Civil War Man wrote:Looks like "Ebony" is the top porn search term for Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Maryland, and both Carolinas.

So you have (I'm generalizing like mad here) Latin American cultures whose combination of strict Catholicism and notions of masculinity result in strong homophobia, thus the only way to safely address interest is searching for gay porn. Likewise in the southern states, either outright lingering racism or the aftereffects of previous generations' produces a disproportionate interest in the 'exotic' interracial taboo.
However, I won't even pretend to explain east Asia's fascination with incest.

Strong family values.
I have a colleague whose parents hail from Laos. He's approximately the same age as myself, probably younger by a year or two.
He's already fixated on founding a family.

asian family values are a disease
Re: Testing Chat IV: A New Hope
I read an article the other day, by George Friedman (one of the guys behind Stratfor), that gives an interesting point of view on "asian family values" :
to be taken with a grain of salt, obviously, but I find that bit interesting nonetheless.A Chinese businessman once told me that he thought Americans were vile and immoral because they would hire strangers over family merely because the stranger was better qualified. He argued that valuing merit over blood was the height of immorality.
No.

Also, the Thai who is holding the local ""Chinese"" restaurant is desolated that his son at ~28 years old still isn't married.
