By curiosity, what part of the idea behind the European Union do you consider as "financial / ideological bullshit" ?

No judgment, I'm just curious to hear your opinion.

The EU is too soft and wouldn't use enough drone strikes sensible applications of public order maintenance strategies to keep control of the whole world.

On the other hand the United States of Earth would probably go bankrupt when they cut taxes to 0.01% on people who only earn between $1 - $2 yearly.

Greece lying its way into the EU and the resulting financial hardships. Obviously someone knew about it and just looked the other way because the EU is as much about financial security as it is physical security.

There's also some minor quibbles i have in regards to trade but its not a big deal. I have more issue with yank protectionalism affecting us then anything the EU does.

I blame the EU as an institution having been infiltrated by cadres from Lehman Brothers as with a lot of of other worldwide financial institutions.

@ Aaron : On the downside, they've been severely slowing down the European Integration Process in the.. process.

As long as the UK will be fully part of the EU we will probably not see an European Federation.

Though there's been more and more signals from France and Germany's leadership that if the UK doesn't get its shit together about the EU in general, it's going to be left on the sides as the other will be integrating more between themselves, but without them (like with the Euro, but better / less incompetently).

I suppose the question on the European Integration thing is...what's the goal? A United States of Europe? Something else that keeps the individual countries as sovereign entities? How much power should EU institutions have to make law/policy in these otherwise sovereign countries? Will it really represent 'Europe' or be dominated by France and Germany? Will poor little Luxembourg (and other smaller states) just be along for the ride in an Integrated Europe? And so on.

I would say there are valid questions to have about the whole process, and it's not just "lol Brits holding it up" though I'm sure some of their objections are probably silly. But I don't really follow the whole EU drama so...

So, I think I've finally come up with the last detail I need for the finale of my Chuck Norris: Ace Reporter novella. Now I just need to fill in some of the blanks earlier on.

It's more that I just lose interest and/or go "OH LOOK SHINIES" and thus never follow through.

This doesn't bother me, though. Considering 99% of what I'd do is probably a rip-off of something else anyway.
