The funny thing about Galactica's "plan" was that they never had one originally, it was just Sci Fi Channel marketing.

So it looks like I'll be gainfully employed again after I do a piss test next week.
Only took four months.

Does your new job pay as much if not more?

Not really. But it pays better than minimum wage and New York is a lot better than Denver.

A few arguments at work over stuff. There was basically nothing going for me besides the job and I was already sick to death of the city, so I figured getting the fuck out could only be an improvement.

But getting out and traveling before that made me realize exactly how much I hated the place. :v

It's been a while since I've seen Chardok/Chardz around here.

Has he been driven away or is it just him doing other things with his time ?

He's probably preoccupied with his son.

What is wrong with people ?

I lack words to describe the kind of awe it inspire me, but let's just say that the current state of Mankind's Military put a whole new meaning on the expression "super-predator".

What I find poetically ironic is that for all our might and destructive capabilities, for all our scientific achievements, fundamentally we are still meatbags as vulnerable as any other.

Take away Man's tools, and he will just be an hairless ape.

And yet we can destroy Worlds.
Someone else in response wrote:We can do all that stuff as humans, Because we has the smart.

That's not going to be the case forever, though. Some people are predicting that by 2040-ish, we'll be able to upload our minds to computers, and ascend to true immortality, to rule this and other worlds forever as gods of iron and silicon.

Hell yeah.

so one of my peeps is going to be on the news tonight arguing that fluoridation is unnecessary and she privately feels it was brought about due to big business pressure rather than public health (but doesn't say that in interviews cuz she fears it sounds crazy)

and another is angry at salliemae because his college loans racked up $20,000 in interest.... before he even graduated and now he (rightfully) feels exploited

death to capitalism

How the hell did that happen?

He had a variable interest rate and deferred payments. So he didn't have to make any payments until graduation, but interest started racking up on day one.

During his later years, the interest rate on the loan went up to 14%... and the university charges about $20,000 / year. I don't know how much scholarship he had, but he's took out a lot of loans and it added right up.

And to top things off, he graduated in 2008. Didn't score a decent job until 2012. He's up to his eyeballs in student loan debt now.

Did he get unsubsidized student loans?

He had a mix of loans. The high interest one wasn't subsidized.

What the actual fuck.

And to think I'm actually being -paid- around minimum wages to study...

There are no words.

Student loans. Ugh. I think I learned my lesson the first time but thank fuck it wasn't a $20k lesson; once I start taking classes again I'm going with cash only.

Zod, one of my uncles lives in Littleton, and a couple of my mom's neighbors moved from Lakeland to the Denver mountains to live. What didn't you like about the place? Not criticizing, just curious as I've never been outside the airport there.

Ouch! That hurts. I'm surprised he didn't run the numbers on the variable interest rate loan and get a part time job at McD's or Home Depot or Fred & Marge's Curio Shoppe to defray expenses while in school. I took on just under $20k to finish school but made sure it was fixed rate first, you don't want to f*ck around with 10 year repayment schedules.

Still, four years after graduation to get a good job...ouch. That sucks.
