i'm not clickin no bing link until my xbox updates
but i mean like oldschool multi user roguelike dungeon thingos
i remember they're hells configurable and open to massive moderator abuse so that is fucking choice bro
now a technical question
can you use some kind of website thing (i guess liek a shoutbox ro wahtve) as ingame text chat for a mud

what would be a lol and meta as hell
every time someone starts another stgod siliness on teo we re-jig the mud (liek change globals, move characters around, reset shit etc)
what level can you reach before the next horrible wankfest starts????
then we engage in regualtory capture by psting in stgods ourselves
and BECOME THE MONSTAERS

i am definitely up for the first part
i'd probably want some sort of text generator for the second part so I could convincingly fakepost
especially for terrible megaposts
i also have a confession to make: i made a rar once, but ford joking around was one of like four people that responded

i can get a fucking client for my fucking phone (ps no ipad version because uhhhh)
but how do i actually get the mud code and set my own shit up y'know? adr is gonna have to use his special pwoers to find and fuck with a setting
because man if there is a way to chop zombies and talk shit at the same time that is good
also i will make a thread

man here is a question
with the power of web2.0 can't this shit be rendered in a website element
amusingly if so i bet it'd be more responsive than a fucking telnet connection

yes indeed
though so i've never played any of this and the wikipedia was tl;dr boring
but is it basically you put a punch of players in a shared map
and they move around and fight and shit?
what i'm imagining is like a nes dragon warrior cave
but witl multiple players

among the html5 support shit i've done the last few weekends are streaming updates and audio clips and fancier graphics
though sending changes is still kinda slow and keyboard access is a bit of a pain

i dunno how it works structurally cause i've never played any
but my understanding is it's a roguelike that heaps of people can connect to in essence (many seem to bve text-only ascii graphics even)
i imagien there are ones advanced enough to feature mouse pointers and shit
the appeal in this siuation is that they're really configurable, so by changing some server shit you should be able to change from a fantasy tolkien crap to a sapce buck rogers crap etc
and man we could make friday wilderness survival day so we can all wear furs to not freeze etc for aaron :V
all this said i can't find the actual code for any of the not-1978 ones??? is the mud community amazingly closed or what
regarding kb you arguably don't need it; the iphone clinet i'm using has like 12 buttons that do 90% of everything, and just use something else for ingame chat

hmm
i think i could just create something from scratch and get something kinda workable. have a big level editor and chat and some kind of combat thing

but on the other hand you can't right click on those touch screens anyway can you

most of them (well okay i haven't done any statistics) are roguelikes with a glorified chat
usually with some persistence and stuff
no reason why it couldn't be implemented entirely on the web these days really

thing is you don't want to have to re-implement the stupid and arcane rules around stupid crap
and that's the lol of playing one :V
i wonder if you can put all the zangband shit in so you can make an ant-man vampire ninja

hey adr i found a mud that's both source and precompiled that apparently works out of the box??? not sure what this means for configurability and stuff
plz note it will have assloads of errors if you have multicore, lol
http://www.gammon.com.au/smaug/smaugfaq.htm
ps i think everyone is totally ok if you set something up and just fuck with it at random to work it out / improve it/ make non 1978 version
