I've been too busy finding a job to do much in the way of sightseeing. The closest I've come is passing by it on the way to somewhere else.

I don't think I know any french who can speak local dialects - they're pretty much dead languages these days, except in some regions like Brittany and the Basque Country where the autonomist try to keep the local gaellic dialects culturally alive.

The only regions I know where the local dialects are relatively widespread in day to day use are Alsace-Lorraine, Corsica and the Oversea.

As a Frenchman, what's your opinion of those two little specks of land you claimed off our (Canada's) Atlantic coast?

They've been ours for a few hundred years, AFAIK before Canada even existed as a country, and still AFAIK the people living there don't want to become Canadian.

And France has oversea territories on every continents except Asia and the Middle-East, which makes France the 2nd country in the world with the largest Exclusive Economic Zone in the world by its overall area.

Though if we don't have oversea territories in the Middle-East, we still have a VERY privileged relationship with Djibouti, which gives us the keys to the entrance of the Red Sea.
