I've seen reports of people caught in the explosion getting limbs blown off, so some of the injuries are pretty bad.

Several people had already finished the race before the explosions happened (co-worker's brother was running it and was one of the finishers--he's fine, but can't go home cause they locked everything down).

Valdy's saying twelve dead now in the SDN thread, but I haven't been able to find anything to confirm that.

I'm looking the TV right now. The numbers are unchanged as of yet.

They are talking about a possible reaction to the recent gun-control / Second Amendment debates.

It's a possibility. I have friends who monitor those circles and while they haven't seen any specific, overt threats, the crazier gun-nuts are absolutely frothing at the mouth

The exploded devices were placed right where the families from Newtown were. I sincerely hope that that's just a coincidence of some kind.

I've never heard that term "Newtown" before. Is there some significance or reason they would be targeted?

Newtown is where the last big, mediatic school / campus shooting happened, which apparently triggered a recent increase in debates about gun control laws & shit like that.

Yeah, i looked it up. Its just been referred to as "sandy hook" or some variation so I've never heard that before.

The school shooting that happened last year. There were people going on about how it was a false-flag operation and conspiracy to seize firearms, in enough numbers to make it pop up in google autocorrect. It's also Tax Day here in the US, and it'll be twenty years since the Waco raid on the 19th. This explains why right-wing terrorists are the most likely suspects right now, though the NY Post has already concluded that it was a Muslim.
