I'm 34 and can still manage that.

With too much caffeine.

Barely.

Every once in a great while.

And I'm fucked up for a week after.

It wasn't so much a matter of being too tired or anything (that's always hit the next day anyway) but I was on edge and having random panic attacks constantly until I gave up and took a nap.

I just turned 35 a few days back and I can still sort of manage getting by on a few hours sleep for one or two days, although it really kills me in terms of awareness/effectiveness... its just that for the next 2-3 (or more) days after that I need to get much more sleep and I may even need to sleep longer than if I was sleeping regularly. Alternately I seem to be able to funciton more or less skipping one day if I can sleep two days consecutively after.

Other than that I regularly get by on about 4-6 hours of sleep a night, otherwise I oversleep. I don't even set clocks and my body seems to operate on thta pattern.

I tend to run on an eight-to-nine hour sleep cycle, though I occasionally snooze a bit during the day. I can go on three/four hours of sleep and still function, but not for more than a day in a row if I'm actually doing anything that requires manual dexterity.

edit: I mean, beyond lifting a fork or using a pen.

My normal sleep routine is between 7 and 8 hours.

It's just that I can get by, for a day (maybe two), on 4 hours a day. Though I'll be fucking miserable.

Screw all of you but Soup. And him*. I'm 31 and I'm all used up. That might have been due to living on four hours sleep a night day for five years, though.

Postgrad work. I had to quit TKD to do more sitting and reading.

Add into tht stress induced appetites and... yeah. However, we did just join a gym down the road, so things should improve.

I recommend a hearty cocaine addiction.

Nothing too excessive. Just a little bump once or twice a day to brighten up. Maybe use it to kick start your coffee.

Even worse about getting older

The years of playing music too loud start to haunt you

The most common time for me to figure out that I should call somewhere to schedule an appointment seems to be about 5:03 PM

Oh well at least it's happening on days besides Friday now

It's been a good few weeks for me. Last week at uni the Sikh association of Australia set up a booth to meet people and educate. It was pretty awesome, I learned more than I would have had I just gone to a website, so I feel like a slightly better global citizen.

I've also spent the last two days at an academic conference. That was hella fun and inspiring.

Finally, teaching children to read/write is hella rewarding.

Had a largely normal day except for one thing. There was an accident at an intersection I have to go through every day involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle. One with a fatality.

They had not cleared the scene yet either. So, in addition to the cars involved and the responders who were working on the accident/directing traffic and their vehicles, there was one body not exactly covered by a sheet of some sort and an extremely distraught person who I presume was the pickup truck driver. Whether he's legally culpable or not I've no idea.

No one I know was involved nor was I harmed in any way. I was merely minorly inconvenienced and nothing more. Still, it left me feeling on edge. Disturbed a little. I dunno quite how to explain it, but there it is.

Seeing death and its consequences seems like a perfectly natural thing to be disturbed by. I mean, especially since you can see people who are being directly affected by it so it's not just a body but you see the direct human impact.

why does it seem as if the best decisions I make for myself are always preceded by "you know, fuck everything"

well I dunno if this is gonna be a good decision but after I said that I suddenly felt very good about it

Depends on how you buy it, though.

Speaking of corpses, it appears Dredd is on Netflix so I finally watched it. What an awesome movie that was and I want a Judge costume now. :oinkoink:
