The game is super grindy. It's why I couldn't be fucked with it anymore. But like I said, if you don't want to try and play high tier and are happy in low tiers, it's pretty easy to play without feeling a grind.

My beef with the game is that each "game" is, like, ten minutes long, and if you got killed in the first minutes but still want your XP and money you have to stay as a spectator until the end of the match.
At least that was the case a year ago.

No, you can bail to garage and go into another game and another game and another. I couldn't do it otherwise, because fuck patience.

Welp, I should have known that.
No wonder I grew bored of that game so fast...

You've never had to stay in the match, not even when the beta was first released.
If someone told you that they were being mean but I still kinda have to laugh

No one told me that.
I just never wanted to take the risk...

My friend did and he his first IM to me about it was "Mechwarrior online is not a good game."
He said he could barely aim his weapons and his robot kept getting stuck in the level geometry.
We chatted a bit and he thinks the MW series really needs to be more like Battletech with combined arms and more dynamic gameplay instead of deathmatch forever
I tried the game and it wouldn't run on my computer so yeah.

Hmmm... Yeah, I won't even give it a try then. Not that it really interested me in the first place.

What about Hawken?

This seems like an apropos moment to mention I was thinking about this in the shower, and think that Battletech, despite itself, may actually be one of the more realistic depictions of a science fiction universe out there.

I'm not really familiar with Battletech, so what leads you to that line of thought ?
Welp, it seems that nobody on TEO watches Futurama.

There's a thread over there about the new teaser poster that's just BEGGING for a Futurama reference, which I provided, and it went clear over everybody's heads.
Watched that. I don't think I'll play it, but it looks interesting.
Maybe it's not realistic, but I like the repair mechanism, and the fact you can respawn.
World of Tanks would be a lot more fun if you could respawn.
... Is there already such a game mode ?...

There's a gamemode in development where everyone puts a few tanks into the match and when you lose one, you start driving the next, but not as of yet.

Meh.
I have to be honest, the fact you need money in order to buy ammos and repair the tank after each match kinda kills it for me, especially once you want to get past tier 3 where it become grind grind grind.
This is especially tedious if you're like me and just play once in a while and aren't part of a coordinated team. Then it become just painful with little to no gratification.

I've never not had enough money after a match your cover expenses. Not sure if they've tweaked that or I am just having more luck.

Neither did I. It's just that it severely cut in your profit margin if you want to save for a new tank, especially if you get killed each match and the team you were on loose (which will happen to you a lot if like me you are pretty casual and not part of a clan).
So, okay, a fix could be "try to not loose", but making the game tedious to play when you loose, when statistically roughly half of the players will lose any given match... well, seems like an awkward proposition for a game design idea.
