It also happened on Kim Il Sung's birthday and the anniversary of when North Korea shot down a US Navy plane, so clearly we can blame them!

Oh, and the bombing of Libya back in the 80s also happened on the 15th of April, so clearly it's Libyan terrorists.

And Tiananmen Square protests also kicked off on the 15th, so maybe we should blame China?

Or you can just wait for more information to come out before throwing around accusations aimed at whoever your favorite target to vilify is. The date could have nothing to do with this and they were just targeting the Boston Marathon itself, you know.

i think it is most likely a love triangle. jealous boyfriend wanted to get rid of the husband and everyone else is just collateral damage to throw the coppers off the scent

BTW this is one reason why it bugs me that the news are calling it "terrorism". i don't think you can really call it that unless you know the motive... and seriously for all we know at this point it could be a love triangle

Or you can ignore supposition if it offends your delicate sensibilities.

So I'm getting demoted for demonstrated inability to manage my job to the standard required. Effective from as soon as a replacement is found.

I don't know whether to be upset or relieved.

Nah, they're not that silly, though they did try to sell the fact that I'll be on the same payscale as a favour to me.

Which brings me to another question: can anyone in (Australian) HR tell me what you would expect someone whole role is managing a team of 20 people in a 242 room hotel, wearing a second hat as accounts receivables, should be paid?

They were paying me 48.5K for the last two years, which is probably why I was worried about things like single parenting and paying child support and paying rent rather than effectively managing my time at work.

I don't want to depress you timmy but I make more than that as a completely line grunt in the security control room, an amazingly easy job, with no serious responsibility, no work intruding outside of work, and an amazingly easy shift rotation. :(

Any job where you manage a team of 20 should translate to at least 60k plus; 20 people is actually real management tm for resume.

Hmm then again Tasmania deduction

That's probably what they'd say

I've always been interested to see what other managers at the hotel are making, but never been able to find out. I knew I was probably at the bottom of the scale, internally and nationally. When my sisters found out, they were appalled.

Don't make excuses man make opportunities, besides you are of no obligation to disclose that unless you get the job.

Holy fucking shit? Under 50k for your job, including shifts?

Dude, any of those Tassie PS jobs would be better. Hell, get into APS, I'll keep an eye out for recruitments down there. Seriously - at my level (APS4) I'm at 67k. And that's not even a fucking team leader level.

JESUS FUCK. Seriously. That payscale is ridiculous for all your roles.

Get out, get out now. And apply for all those jobs, if State is anythign like Federal public service you'll be back from your 4 weeks away before they even call back about interviews.

Does anyone know how much it might cost to get part of our lawn re-seeded professionally? It looks like huge patches of our backyard died during the winter, and on top of that we just had some trees taken out. Most of the stuff i'm seeing online make it look like it will cost at least several hundred dollars to get this done, maybe a little cheaper if we do it ourselves.

Has anyone here ever had to do something like this before, and if so, about how much did it run you?

What does it cost ?

- 1 rake and a few buckets of sweat to scratch the earth
- 1 bag of seeds
- the flat side of a shovel to compress the soil once the seeds have been planted.
- water

You shouldn't need anything more.

Dude, go to Home Depot, buy some grass seeds and go out there and spread them by hand. For a 50lb bag at HomeDepot.com it's less than $80 USD and you won't need 50lb. So like $30-$50 USD?

We've done that ourselves before and the new stuff either comes in patchy, doesn't come in at all, or gets overtaken and killed by weeds within a year. We put down fertilizer and weedkiller every year, and it doesn't help. Obviously we're doing something wrong, because the grass just keeps dying or getting overtaken by weeds.

It might be time for a professional touch.

It'd prolly vary by region and size of yard anyway... odds are you can get a free quote though. Check the phone book for a local lawn care company and ask them for one, I'd expect it to be pretty painless.
