why is everything tons and half tons in that game

most video games just use slots

they should have never told players how make their own robots

they were not prepared for the torrent

customisation is a big draw for fat people

because the systems are ALWAYS broken and it ALWAYS lets the fat people feel like they designed a KILLER MECHZ and dominate

and then a week later whine about how xyz mech (BOATERS SUCK) are dominant

customization is a way for developers to compensate for the shitty gameplay

create your OWN damn content

the best thing about ad hoc customisation systems is when a) the stock examples do not use the same system and are thus impossibel to match or crap or b) the customisation assumes everyone wants what the developer does adn is thus amazingly broken if you don't

If Masters of Arena's second dedicated arena disc is anything to go by

I guess AC1's engine was sorta balanced. There's robots from both tournament winners and developers and they'll all different.

So I dunno.

it was 'choose preset modules' rather than 'allocate x space to y business', though; you couldn't swap a rifle for 9 smaller rifles. the playing field is inherently more limited, thus easier to balance

and man armoured core has LITERALLY NO BALANCE and yet it's better than mechwarriopr 'balance'

I think at least part of the problem is that somehow btech fans have gotten the idea that the game is realistic and futuristic stuck in their head when it's seriously a universe full of crazy people who follow bushido (the way of the warrior) who are all trapped in the eighties/early nineties at best

i mean seriously, they need a computer that weighs a ton (literally) to compute shit for their robots why not just embrace the extra retro sunglasses wearing vibe and go 'aw yeagh! i'm about to strap into my bigass dumpy skullfaced robot and trundle off in the direction of danger zone 23!'

you're fighting a deeply-ingrained nostalgia and it's a futile battle; you can't win over someone who is committed to living in the past. any new "mechwarrior" developer has to move on and build a product that will attract enough new fans to replace the old grognards. you mention THAC0 in one of your linked posts there but there are literally still neckbeards who unironically play AD&D, let alone 3rd ediition.

or even just abandon the battletech franchise altogether. it's a really clunky setting. and in terms of gameplay, what is a well-made MW game going to accomplish that an AC game won't?

yeah

i guess i can't play with the robo-Mormons anymore ;-;

even though they won't leave others alone when they dare talk about them hippie japbots

oh poor poor fasa always getting dragged through the mud by those mean japananaoan toy companies that wont let them use robots that fasa didn't make or credit to the original creators baaw

seriously artists who can make robots that don't look like shit aren't hard to find or cost that much to hire relatively, I think that fasa's complete lack of ability/willingness to get people on board who could art speaks almost as much to both their incompetence and lack of giving a shit as their infringement did

also eww gross gurps

EDIT:
I did not say that, I said you did not get the point of the game - and you don't, you spefically say so (in so many words) when you complain about uber designs - making uber designs is a large part of the game.
uhh...where to even start with that

The art thingnismfunny becuase fan rt is seriously better

By if you made an AC style game with mad cats and shadow cats and big cats and angry cats (call it angry cats, next big thing on mobile) it might actually be cool, with bullets and lasers zipping and explosions and areal sense of,ebbing invulnerable

Y'know without rolling for LRMs in 5-shot clusters and shit

cats that are ebbing invulnerable

i think it was pretty clear

y'know btech has a rule that you can't fire your srm6 until they all lock because pnp rules need that shit to simplify mechanics?

AC has them lock sequentially which is both cool and liberating

but if you did that in btech fatties woudl probably complain

ANGRY CATS MECHANICAL WARFARE

maybe cathawks

thunderhawks
silvercats

ghost shadows?

anyway boiling down btech to a physics game about cute cat robots using nyan-6s and ER-PPURs to destroy each other = more money than btech made in the last decade

too accessible, doesn't fawn on range lookup tables or scatter diagrams

RESPECT THE IP OHMA JESUS

sp the medium lazy would be a more efficeint form of the heavy lazy, which can bring even the angriest cat to a halt

since any line-drawing game needs a trebuchet the silvercat obviuosly needs a trebuchet on it's back

we'll call it hte catapult

that pic makes me laugh in part because you can't really tell if anyone is on a side

like, just a bunch of valkyries and battloids and battle pods having a death match

which

is probably more accurate to what most people did with the game than anything with pretenses to story is/was
