Power is finally back on, thank god. I'd have gone batshit if I really did have to wait until Tuesday.

Wait until you get your bill and its the same as it was this month last year since power companies don't have to take the loss despite not providing the service.

So what they say is true. The difference between civilization and chaos is one week without electricity.

I went 14 days without electricity in the winter of '98 but I had enough batteries for my Game Boy so it was all good

Then again nowadays I'm way too addicted to the Internet and don't have a smartphone so who knows

After one of the 2004 Hurricanes we lost power for 13 days and it was 90+ degrees out. And we had well water so the pump didn't work due to it being run on electricity.

I have a generator and also battery pack that I can recharge off my car. Grew up rural, live rural, etc. Afforded it via a Harbor Freight discount sale (immediately started modding it so it would work better). Collectively it's enough power to keep the laptops going and the food in the fridge cold, which is all that is important. Heat's propane, doesn't need any power to work, and stove's the same, which we can also boil water on for taking baths. Now ain't that redneck? But we're ready when Sandy II comes this fall (I expect repeats due to global warming).

Pffft, I can make you look like a redneck. Just let me find a flannel shirt, a John Deere cap, and an early 90's F-150 and I can make ANYONE look like a redneck with that.

.......... I could start a terrible Youtube video series. "Redneck makeovers from a rhinestone cowgirl".

It doesn't even have to be a John Deere cap.

It's also too damn hot for flannel. Round here anyways.

Really, jeans, a tshirt and a ballcap will get you a redneck look if you choose the right ones. Especially if you pair them with dirty cowboy boots.

Heck, if you do it right, you can do it with jeans and a belt buckle.

I'm a little upset that Pusha T's album was delayed. I understand why, what with J. Cole, Kanye West, and JAY Z releasing albums right before, but man I was looking forward to playing it right after my birthday.

Now I gotta wait until some unannounced date in August.

anyway I'm actually not sure how I feel about that
on the one hand, I think people should be able to look at what they want
on the other hand, we actually do need to protect children from porn, especially the nasty, nasty shit online
the actual implementation the government is using is pretty drug-war-esque, with the experts telling them 'no this is impossible you clown' and call-me-dave going 'I DON'T CARE MAKE IT HAPPEN, DO YOU WANT THE PEDOS TO WIN!?!?!!!1!'

The funny thing is how he want to ban certain search terms.

Did he learn anything from China ? That kind of approach doesn't work.

I don't get it. There are entire organizations for anarchists (lol organized anarchy) but the closest things I can find to technocracy groups are all lunatics promising first world+ living standards for 7 billion people if we just abolish money.

Anarchy doesn't mean lack of organization, just that the system / organization in not based on a hierarchical model (which is why for me the ideas of communism and anarchism seem to be complimentary to each other).
