Currently watching the 90s' "Godizilla" animated series.

So far, it's as good as I remember from watching it on the teevee.

I can see the gateway porn thing actually
it doesn't mean that everyone who watches porn will turn into a pedophile (though I'm sure that's an implication they're not exactly playing down), but that some people would keep on looking up more and more transgressive stuff -- from regular porn through to bondage through to simulated rape through to child abuse images -- and that certain kinds of pornogaphy being so readily available online would speed the process up.

Ideally people who ended up looking at that shit would put themselves in for therapy, but that kind of voluntary therapy would require a certain level of destigmatization that will not ever happen. I mean treating it as something like hard drug addiction rather than useless RAR YOU COMPLETE MONSTER stuff

Installing Windows can be a pain, but 1) it's quicker than hunting through the registry killing everything that looks funny and 2) this way you'll remember to obey the piss-simple precautions when online in the future holy shit how did you manage to get a virus, what is this 1996
I haven't gone to any strange sites or ones I've not been to a bunch of times before so I don't know why this happened.

No... :failure: I'm going to lose a lot of stuff. Can I put individual files on thumb drives like songs, pictures, etc first?

Not even that boot CD antivirus thing?

If it has to be done though, I've heard that my little license sticker from the OEM would work on a fresh Win7 install, so I don't have to go dig out my default backup DVDs (and do away with the usual OEM crap as a bonus). Anywhere I could get a clean Win7 Pro 64 install from legally?

well
strictly speaking every file you backup from now on will be a potential vector of re-infection after you've re-installed
so I guess it's a matter of how much you trust the virus scanner you're going to put on it, as well as the exact nature of the malware

For information, just to stop the 'lol you caught a virus what are you, five ?' bandwagon... I'm relatively cautious about where I go and what I do on the 'net, but I once caught an adware, simply because another program from a trusted vendor installed it without asking (the adware was Babylon Toolbar, if you're wondering).

I have to say one thing, not directly related but in addition : fuck Flash. The day Adobe crash and burn will be a glorious day for the internet.

I don't like the porno industry, but I have a feeling that trying clamp down on the net will backfire and piss more innocent users off.

Recently saw The World's End, me and everybody else in the cinema was laughing all the way through, but it was a surprisingly dark movie with a shock ending:
First there was inherent sadness of an early middle aged slacker desperately trying to recreate the glory days of his misspent youth. I was also taken aback by Gary King attempting suicide/self-harming. And Simon Pegg's Gary King was a real deadbeat in this film, with Nick Frost being the more adult and responsible character (when he was the overgrown manchild in the previous movies). And while an alien invasion plan was thwarted, out of spite the aliens pulled down modern civilisation in the process, dooming billions.

It would be nice if they used terms like "assigned male" instead of "boy" and didn't gender all the pronouns since they admit that there's probably several trans children in that group, but I suppose I should at least be happy the tone was supportive in general.

If you trust your antivirus software to have cleaned your computer, go on and keep using it. It might have even worked, but there's no way to actually prove it.

Yeah, you should be fine with pulling off normal files and stuff.

Try these links; Digital River is Microsoft's main online distributor.

I am currently literally arguing the exact same thing as the person I'm arguing against, they're just, by all appearances, taking offense because I'm not a Leninist. :wtc:

Leninists are funny. They set up a booth in the student centre on campus once that drew so few people that they had to staff it with three of the grimmest, most sour-faced old men I've ever seen.

Look, nobody assigned the kid (what is presumably) a penis.

I could understand if there was some ambiguity in that respect, but it as far as I know there wasn't.

sex = biological
gender = social

In this context, "boy" mean a male gender. IB's remark here was that it was a bit... awkward in the context of the article to talk about these kids gender as masculine when they seem to be more at ease with a feminine gender (social perception).

Hey ford,

if you want to educate people,

starting by insulting them may not be the best starting point, you know ?

Okay I read the article. Nothing wrong with what IB was saying in that context, imo.
