it's totally cool how slow the robots are
it reminds you of how giant robots will never, ever be used in war because they're fucking stupid
also i kind of want to play MW2 or MW3 again just to see how broken they are
but it sucks getting them to run on XP apparently
lol pc

So Mad Dog with fire linked LRM10s = kill in two volleys
also linked MLAS are more useful than linked LLAS because they don't overheat as fast and you can fire faster that way
because the radar has less range than the draw distance I couldn't find my targets
sometimes it told me I was going out of the level boundaries I couldn't see
and I ran out of a time on a timer I couldn't see
but I did find this truck

Well it is a PS1 port of a DOS game.
There were PS1 games in 1995 that looked (and played) better too.
And this version has power ups so it's not simhard i guess
also despite having a volume control for music there is none
and boy does the game love spawning dudes right next to you
or turning friendly units into enemies
oh wait this port was released in 1997? That's when Armored Core came out
is that true. The title screen says 1995-1997
wow

Ask him how fast he thinks armoured units right now advance.

well the whole thing about them giant robots
at least how Gundam in particular attempted to make them more like "legit" vehicles of war
was basically to do what the Powered Suit from Starship Troopers did
create a one-man unit that can traverse terrain quickly and has access to multiple hand-held and mounted weapons
because they had to keep the size of the robots fairly large (roughly the size of an F-15 standing on its tail) what happen was we got something that was almost akin to a ground based weapon with many aspects of combat airplanes
Even in terms of how they frame the Mobile Suits in Gundam as being based on carriers and launched from catapults. having a single pilot or sometimes two being in control of multiple weapons and sensors.
Battletech likes to claim they're doing otherwise, but Battlemechs try to occupy the same hybrid plane/powered suit role
and horribly fail at it :v
also Gundam F-91 had a cool military parade with Mobile Suits
one of the Armored Core openings had a platoon of ACs marching across the desert
so I guess Japan gets it

Both Armored Core 4 and Armored Core For Answer are for 360
You might want to check gameplay vids to see if you like it.
There was Chromehounds but the multi is dead
Maybe there's a few others. I dunno I have a PS3

ok so you're supposed to inspect this downed dropship (and kill everyone)
but when you inspect it the data transfer takes 20 seconds
what the game never tells you that if you move too far away before time is up the mission ends because you're outside transmission range :v
it tells you after you do the wrong thing of course

The 360 AC games are shit
Bad controls, 40s missions with 90s load times, ugly robots, horrible UI, basically made for diehard fans
Just get steel battalion WALKING SHERMAN EDITIONZ when it comes out
chrome hounds was fundamentally broken
Mech games in general are just a wasteland of fail unless you own a psp

Or a PSP emulator :v
Or a Sega Saturn emulator if you want to play some Gundam games. Also Assault Suits Leynos 2 is for Saturn. It's the sequel to Target Earth (Leynos 1) on Genesis. The game Cybernator (Assault Suit Valken) for SNES is a prequel to Leynos. They're fun side scrolling robot games.
The good robot games are spread across so many systems. There used to be a website dedicated to cataloging robot games but it is long gone. Lol angelfire.
I think you can get Thexder Neo for XBLA. Another fun side scroller based on two old PC games.
You know, I understand all the problems btech has and how ridiculous and stupid it is.
I still really like it . It's very medieval, and I think I accept it more readily because in my mind it's like a bunch of backwards feudal era 'knights' who didn't understand when to stop adding on the plate mail, and it's got this grungy, haphazard, everything-could-stop-working-in-an-instant attitude while crunching around in enormous, clunky, inflexible robots with incredibly short range explody canons.
I dunno, that appeals to me.

If ya'll knew how much this applied to me and how much Btech stuff I have you'd be ashamed of me.

not saying I don't have a cache of Btech stuff myself
but do any us really enjoy rolling to hit on our LRM20s
and then rolling to see how many hit
and then rolling to see where they hit in 5 missile clusters
