Seriously. Five minutes. Five fucking minutes.
Had it been fifteen, or twenty, or hell fourty minutes like I did Monday, okay, I could accept that without any problem.
But five minutes, goddamn. I know how it works, they were barely starting.
Get a sense of reality you goddamn Ivory Tower denizens.

There's nothing like accidentally leaving a $150 calculator in a classroom. Maybe it will still be in there this morning.

You wish.
One time I did that. The 15 minutes of the recess period were enough for it to get stolen.

It's in a room with very little student activity and is always filled with teachers almost all day. Emails were sent out and everything when I determined last night that it was not in my backpack. It will be replaced, no doubt, but it's still a pain in my balls because it's one of the best investments I've made towards my education. If it's not there, I'll have to make that investment twice.
Shit was just so hectic yesterday and my ADHD got to me.

It was there. A classmate and acquaintance found it and locked it up for me.
How's your cynicism, Oxygen?:p

I should have mentioned the teacher didn't leave the room during that period
Anyway, I'll echo Stofsk's sentiment. GG dude.

That just means you were 20 minutes late.
Fifteen minutes early is on time, on time is late.

Rolled my ankle playing laser tag last night. Should have brought sneakers, went straight after work and had my dress boots on.
Came home at 4am after a late late dinner/early early breakfast with my buddy that flew in to hang out with us. He gave me the same advice I got last week from another friend: JUST DO IT
So now I'm going to take a shot and silently panic until I find out whether it hit the mark.

So I think I've pinpointed one of my biggest problems in dating and even though it's kind of late to the party, I've decided to tackle improving my conversational skills as a resolution I can actually keep. I spent the walk to the train today talking to one of my co-workers about shoes and I figure signing up for a karaoke night couldn't hurt because hey why not. Maybe even take an improv class if I can find one that won't charge me out the ass.

What sort of job are you looking for? Just any sort of part-time work or do you have a skillset you're aiming to use?

Yeah, I was thinking store work in between semesters, although I would also be interested in jobs of a more academic nature (I'll be a third year engineering student), which I think I'd honestly be more relaxed in. I know a good number of people who have jobs like this, so I might be able to get some help there. I've also sent an email to a couple of chummy lecturers regarding the possibility of tutoring, though I imagine they have a preference for more phd type people. I've worked for the university once before weeding out errors in what's basically an online tutorial system, and if things are still on course I'll be doing a similar job before the beginning of semester, so they know me pretty well.
This is on top of preparing to locate mandatory work experience, which it just occurred to me would be during the Christmas area so any paid work I'd do would have to be during the break between semesters
hahaha i'm so fucked up how did i even allow this to happen

Try getting a job either in a supermarket or making pizza
The hours on that are pretty broad and the work's okay

Just say not to working as a cashier if at all possible. It will ruin you.

Man I thought a cashier would be a good thing for me. Like, are there responsibilities beyond scanning stuff and administering money? I guess that's where most of the complaints would be concentrated though.
Anyway, I'm going about the process of... marshalling my resources. I've got friends and lecturers who might have leads and there are websites and there's like a job resources place at the university.
I think the core of it is I need to move past this really visceral reaction to the idea of getting a job in the first place, but that's easier said than done. I developed these fears like 3 years ago, I'll need to recognize that I'm not the same person.

Ignore Zod and his ivory fucking tower. No one is 'too good' for a job that isn't actually slavery.

working the tills is fucking boring though, at least stacking shelves involves you doing stuff, and you get to interact with other staff rather than the god-damned customers
I mean: over here, many shops have replaced till-workers with machines. Working the tills is like being a human conveyor belt
that said, I'd snap up that job in a second, and you shouldn't be fussy

You get to deal with the brunt of angry customers and customers who are flat out trying to steal from the store. And then the store throws you under the bus if your till counts happen to come up short, even though you're pretty sure it was another employee taking money out of it.

Fuck... the fog this morning was the worst I've ever seen. I'm heading to the hardware store and the grocery store and I can only see about 200 yards, at best, in front of me.
Which is fine, I can drive through heavy fog. I just have to be more careful than usual. What's scary is the fucksticks that drive like it isn't foggy...
