What is a cis man? I've never been able to grasp these concepts.

when you were born, the doctor looked at your crotch, saw a d&b and said "it's a boy!" and you identify as male and are comfortable with the male gender, then you would be a cisgender man.

a cisgender woman is somebody who was assigned female at birth, and identifies as female.

cis is just the counterpart term to trans, that's all

We can put you near the end of the list. Acceptable compromise?

Are the terms "male" and "female" just too vague now given that there are many gender identities?

"Male" and "female" are vague in the sense that they don't say whether or not a person is trans, at least.

I think it's just for ease of comprehension when discussing sexual identities in particular.

"Male", "female", "woman", "man", etc. are still useful when describing anyone whose gender (as in the mental part) fits in those two. There's also people whose gender is outside that binary (because they fit both, neither, or a different gender entirely) for whom it gets more complicated, yeah, but the usual rule still applies: use the word they're comfortable being described with :P

You can use cis and trans as descriptors to further subdivide, in the same way you can divide a group into freckled guys and not-freckled guys or anything else like that.

Terminology like "assigned (or designated) ___ at birth" is good in general because it's a lot more accurate: it just means that's what the doctors/your parents declared you were when you were born, it's not what you "really are/were" or anything like that.

I wake up every morning and find myself in deeper and deeper water. As some things are improving and I'm making progress, I discover others are sabotaging everything people have built over the last 42 years.

I want to quit, I want to walk away and hold hands with a pretty girl as we walk through the river valley, I want to sleep in past 7am on the weekend, I want to be in sweats and not a suit on Saturdays; but when I contemplate these alternative uses of my time I wonder who will do the work needed.

And so this fucked up sense of duty feels like a leash, some times, while empowering me and inspiring people around me to work for positive change the rest of the time.

can't quit can't quit can't quit can't quit can't quit can't quit can't quit can't quit

Don't you know anyone whom you could trust to delegate some of your workload ?

No.

I mean, I do, there is so much that is delegated, but I am not the head of this particular beast. If I go, the people below me will no longer receive instruction or guidance from those above me and beside me, if we visualize this as a hierarchical structure. They feed me information from all sides and I transmit it up and down and side ways and make decisions and act myself or form action plans for many to execute, and I receive action plans from those beside me and above to implement or delegate.
