Just saw an ad for that on blip tv. I guess it's kind some kind of post zombie apocolpyse game? But could barely tell that from the ad. Just people making 'dramatic statements' tm.

Anyhoo, finally finished max Payne 3. And... well its a damn good thing the games kept slipping me extra painkillers and ammo after i'd died a lot at the same checkpoint. Almost makes up for its habit of disarming me cutscenes and spawning invincible machine gun weilding badguys two metres in front of me.

Still a serviceable enough shooter once its got going and to its credit, it learnt from the other game's and only had very short escort mission sections. Unlike the last one.

yes, zombies, except caused by a fungus that changes people's behaviour, with the later-stage infected having freaky growths out of their heads and navigating by sound
the main character kind of sort of reminds me of the man from The Road -- certainly in visual appearance, though the personalities aren't a complete match

This being the first weekend of summer, I've made my videogame purchase.

I've purchased Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City (I realize I'm late to the party on these two, but when you buy between zero and three games a year, a backlog develops) for about $30.00

Did I do well?

I suppose so. Still had to get further than the first levels in Asylum.

Saw Dishonored going for £10 on Gamefly today. Unfortunately it's an UK exclusive deal. Raaaaage ! :argh:

The Arkham games are both really good
I have no idea what that $30 is in proper moneypound sterling, so I don't know if that's a good deal or not

According to google :

30 U.S. dollars = 19.4464251 British pounds

I can never keep it straight who are the americans and who are the aussies on this board
but yeah that's about what I'd expect to pay for both the games second hand (maybe as low as £15, since Asylum is pretty old now)

I thought the first one was pretty meh but never played the second.

the second one is basically the first except a little bit better (gameplay-wise; story-wise, I definitely prefer the first, though of course they are both batman and therefore silly)

i think the second one actually suffers from trying to be open world. its that ridiculous thing that happens when the main story implies its on a timer and everything is hurry hurry hurry, except really you're supposed to be bunking off and doing all the side missions.

Then again it did let me play in a batman beyond costume so its automatically awesome. If only they'd tried to so bb gadgets like invisibilty and jetboots and things that'd be awesome in a new game plus sort of way.

Also the dlc characters should have been selectable in story mode. stupid challenge maps.

Been testing out games on new PC as part of a HTPC setup. Rediscovered my love for Max Payne 3. Also realising how fucking stunning games like Hitman Absolution, Max Payne 3 and Sleeping Dogs are when settings are maxed out.

And in case you had any doubts, Steam's Big Picture Mode is brilliantly implemented. There's some functionality that's hidden and still need desktop interface, but for day to day use I'm loving it.

speaking of zombie games i've finally bothered to pick up dead space 3

while the weapon crafting & optional mission stuff is nice the story, atmosphere and tone of the game are nowhere near the first two

i mean whats the point of a dead space game without hallucinations

So I'm playing Hearts of Iron 2, as the UK for the first time ever. So I send over my BEF in 1940 when the Germans start invading. Only 18 divisions, but I never expected to hold them forever (I'm not trying to game the system here by spamming divisions from the start). So things start going poorly and I figure I'll throw in some reinforcements, in the form of an extra 12 divisions to try and hold out as long as possible.

Except the Germans end up beating France as one would expect...and all 30 of my divisions got trapped on the Continent and utterly wiped out. :failure:

Now I kind of need :america: to bail me out because I'm a terrible British commander.

They were spread out when the Fall of France event fired, which means basically every province except the three I was in went German all of a sudden.

Only one of those provinces was on the coast. :(

So when the Germans took it, they of course did so with their tanks and motorized infantry. I had only basic infantry. *smirk*

So yeah they were basically encircled and ultimately destroyed.

Pretty much.

Thank Christ it was the AI though. Because literally all I had defending the Home Islands at that point were three Airborne divisions and one Marine division. I would have been utterly screwed by a halfway competent Sealion.

As it was, they did try. But apparently the AI never built more transports than they started with and only landed two vanilla Infantry divisions. Which they did reinforce when I sent my troops over to engage (they were on the opposite side of Britain from me) but then pulled out by the time I got there, so I only trapped one German division. Not exactly a crushing victory on my part.

Also the province they took was home to four brand new Tactical Bomber wings which had only finished building a week prior. Naturally those were lost.

Damn you computer :godwin: !! :argh:

So you were playing an ACCURATE AI in HoI? What mod were you using?

Lol.

I think I'll be okay though. I took military control of Canada, so I'll have crack Canadian infantry on my side now.

Aaron, you better not let me down. :colbert:
