The DS9 writing staff had a running joke with a semi-annual "O'Brien Must Suffer" episode. Among these were "Whispers", "Tribunal", "Visionary", "Hard Time", "Honor Among Thieves" and "Prodigal Daughter". (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion) According to Ira Behr, "Every year in one or two shows we try to make his life miserable, because you empathize with him."

So, rewatching Trek movies. Good times. First Contact has the best opening theme of them all, for reals:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=mhoa7oWPPhk

So, speaking of the movies, does anyone else think TWoK is overrated? Is it a good movie? Sure. But best Trek movie? I don't think so. TBH, TVH and/or TUC are better than TWoK, meme-ness of KHAAAAAN aside. And I also kinda place FC above TWoK now.

EDIT: So I totally went over that already. Whoops.

But I left the FC > TWoK comment because that's actually new. And I totally stand by it.

The uniforms first introduced in the movie are still the best Starfleet uniforms I have ever seen come from the canon, though. For reals.

Even if I liked nothing else in III(and there's plenty I like about it), the stealing of the Enterprise would secure the film for me.

'Commander of Starfleet on emergency channel. He orders you to surrender his wessel.'

Hey the wide beam phaser thing, would the outer bits of the beam be weaker then the center?

depends on how sophisticated the power system on a phaser is

unless it has some type of compensation thingy where it distributes power to the outer parts of the beam so it keeps up then probably

Oh my god DS9 stop the padding.

This is getting to be not funny anymore, at least when Apocalypse and Mister Sinister kept popping up in X-Men I could laugh at them for looking incredibly goofy and doing stupid looking over the top bullshit. But here I just keep getting sad O'Brien/randomly unlikable O'Brien, bad acting, and Bajorans being hateable.

i'm reading some thing on the internet talking about racism in star trek 6

and it mentioned something i never really thought about before

where kirk hated klingons and had biases

spock had the other side of the coin: he had faith in vulcans and that affected him with valeris

The death of the Kzinti during this episode's conclusion marks the only time any characters are killed on screen during The Animated Series.
