btw phant, if you're reading this, thank you for giving me the opportunity to make a trap thread for people like purple, though i admit i'm disappointed in thanas.starku wrote:testing is funny cause the whole attitude is a laugh
gotta keep up the futile 'oppression' of people who won't play in their playpen y'know?
every time a thread is made there that belongs in another forum but the poster doesn't want it to get dogpiled by the usual broken records, it puts sdn in stark contrast to what it thinks it is
anyways, i wonder if i should bring in the concept of counter-narratives to blow purple's little mind

the sad thing is after the ndaa bullshit paul is actually looking like the most reasonable candidate this election (or at the very least the least awful of the lot)B-A-K-U-S-T-R-A wrote:he actually likes porno hauler, and got all hurt and declared that paul declaring judicial review to be an infringement of liberty was a sign of his sanity on civil liberties issuesweemadando wrote:Zentai is an emotionless drone. At least that's what I've gathered, but if/when Red checks in he'll probably correct all of us.
A lot of the problem is that with Mike gone, Dalton stretched thin, and most of the senior mods absent or inactive, there's really no one keeping the staff pointed in the same direction on rules and policy. It looks like nobody is keeping the board rules updated, either (this is how Ghost Rider became an admin--he always volunteered for unglamorous stuff like that).
I kinda wish Mike would just give Dalton the keys to the place and say, "Hey, run it however you want; just don't be a fuckwit." On the other hand, I have no idea who he'd tap to be "deputy admin", other than Edi (who I know you guys don't generally like, but I always thought he was a good mod and a p. cool guy). The mod staff is getting pretty threadbare, too, and who the hell out of the general user base would you promote to mod at this point?
EDIT: I guess I forgot to answer your actual question. Yes, Dalton can ban people on his own authority, though it's not his preferred punishment. Without looking up the statistics or anything, I would guess he's banned people at a much slower rate than Mike ever did. Supermods cannot issue bans except in very obvious cases like spambots, and that is indeed the result of the DataPacRat fiasco.

You're welcome Bakustra.
I want to start a thread in a forum and get it flushed to Testing because it's stupid shit opinions or even just spam, and then be like "now the real discussion can begin" and it just be full out solid discussion of whatever the topic is.

I actually like Edi and feel kinda bad trashing him, because he's always treated me fair. But I can say that if I were mod, I'd probably end up burning out within a week or so. Month at the most.

Re: Godammed SDN
Edi has always been cool with me, so I got nothing to say. Flagg is an abrasive fuck and Tucker is a shit head and those two dislike Edi most. So the Edi hate is not universal here.

Fun fact- I wrote a PM yelling at Tucker after he did his banme post. Once he actually got banned I deleted it, because I didn't like its look in my outbox.

I frogot why I said that to Edi. I think it had to do with his vendetta against stark.

You know the fucked up thing? I'd be an awesome mod, because I have no life and I can totally detach myself from any situation. But I don't give a fuck what people think so I just post my true opinions so I'd never be approached to be one.RedImperator wrote:o haiB-A-K-U-S-T-R-A wrote:No, supermods haven't been able to do that since have-a-very-nice-day-fgalkin abused it to ban datapacrat without any consultation with anybody else. Called him a cunt or somesuch. I've come close to doing the same since he has a pretty obvious vendetta against Stark and myself.Knubfuck wrote:I frogot why I said that to Edi. I think it had to do with his vendetta against stark.

This conversation about ethics with Stas is like talking to a fucking wooden plank.
I don't even know where to begin with him...

Re: Godammed SDN
edi is a bit quick to flame especially when it comes to america
there was one thread where it was like "the average american uses 4 gallons of water to wash dishes" or something like that
and edi immediately jumped in and was all like "u americans are water fat in finland we use like 4 milliliters"
and maybe it's true but he didn't have stats or anything and that's a really common pattern. not just with him too.
but virtually every time any fact about the united states and sometimes even canada comes up
someone has to come in and be all smug about european superiority
now finland sounds like a pretty decent country
but come on
