Mostly based on the estimated 20% of vets who are psychiatric casualities in some form or another and the almost certain fact of under reporting.

Hey my cousins live in Sterling Heights. It's a nice place, nice people. It's kinda funny how there's that triangle (that I think Bakustra told me about) around SH with three of the worst ten places to live in the US (or dangerous or whatever) and SH is in the top ten safest.

Yknow if you want to serve and do something great for your society, why not be a cop?

Really? Whereabouts do they live? Maybe i've met them before.

I've considered becoming a cop before, but part of the army thing is that it's a greater challenge, a greater test for myself. I'm currently of the opinion that I haven't amounted to much because i've never experienced any hardship in my life. My parents were both very doting, always got me what I wanted, shit, my dad's still helping me out money-wise until I finish community college. I never experienced any difficulty, so I was never forced to grow stronger. Strength is born of adversity, and I haven't faced any. The army would be a difficult challenge, but I think i'd emerge stronger for it. If it turns out I can't get in because of my heart, which is almost a 100% certainty now, I might give police work a shot for a few years. Barring that I'll join the Americorps or some other charitable organization and go teach or build shit in some impoverished country. That's something i'm looking into too.

So basically what you're saying is you have zero self confidence in your ability to do something on your own? I'm not sure why you think the army would help that since all your choices are basically made for you.

If you're looking for adversity but don't like the idea of being trained to kill people, why don't you look into something like the Peace Corps? That way you can at least be helping people as you make yourself miserable for the purpose of self-improvement.

I wish we had something like the Peace Corps or Americorps in Canada. I'd be down for some of that "making yourself miserable for the purpose of building a better world" shit.

All we seem to have are "volunteer vacation" packages where you pay a few grand to a travel four company for the privilege of volunteering in third word countries. I'd never do it because I don't need to pad my resume for medmschool.

Not too mention a lot of volun-tourism programs are counter productive or outright destructive.

Well I suppose so but it's not really something I'd do for imperialist Yankee pig dogs y'know? If I'm serving, I serve my Crown, and the Maple Leaf.

I should just calm down. Also, thank you for those links, Zod.

What's your gamertag? We can group up for horde or co-op campaign some time.
