ah, well I only really hear Jpop during anime openings and endings, and I really don't listen to a lot of western music with lyrics, so I really can't tell if you're correct or not about their music being "Better."
I certainly agree about the lack of shame though. It seems like there's a certain sub-sect of Japanese society that really doesn't give a shit what anyone thinks of them, and they're the ones who keep giving us all those weird-ass news stories. I'm just not sure what the mainstream Japanese populace think of them.

Are any of them actual actors or do they just do it for shits 'n giggles?

I guess some people are just more comfortable with that sort of thing.
Can you recommend some decent Jpop then? I've been trying to expand my music collection to include more music with lyrics instead of just being movie and game soundtracks like it is now. However, since i've never listened to much lyrical music, I'm mostly dependent on recommendations to get decent stuff.
Watching the finales for Aquarion Evol and Fate/Zero back to back is an interesting experience
Like Aquarion's ending is basically AND THEN EVERYONE WAS INCREDIBLY FUCKING HAPPY FOREVER, THE END
Whereas Fate/Zero ending with that scene from Kiritsugu's perspective was an incredible gutpunch
Fun times

*Sigh*
After watching the last two episodes of Gundam AGE, i'm torn. On the one hand, it's nice to see the Vagan finally fleshed out as something more than indiscriminate monsters, on the other, i'm worried they'll give Kio the Kira Yamato treatment.

Overall I've been really disappointed with AGE. At first I thought the epic, multi-generational storyline would open up new storytelling opportunites, but it turns out they're just rehashing the UC-verse again except the bad guys are from Mars instead of Lagrange 3.
