Sleepless in Ponyville (1080p)

Just ignore the annotation, the HD version works fine. I'll refrain from gushing in this post so people can watch without seeing spoilers.

Watched the episode. It was freaking awesome.

Rogue, you're gonna love it.
And let's just say that the episode's conclusion was long overdue.

Yay new page.

Oh I did. :flagg:

I also agree with your spoilered comment. Hooray for character growth! Now to see those two interact like the other sisters do.
Overall I would say this was a pretty good Luna episode. Scootaloo also had a nice supporting part, as well. :fukyu:

This still leave unanswered one the recurring question since almost the beginning :

Where are RD's and Scoot's families ?

Incoming :( episode ? Would they dare ?

if they have a :( episode, it'll probably be with granny smith
having parents be dead or something would be too far, I think
just remember that there were questions about Rarity' parents too... untli they were introduced in one episode, out of the blue. Just because Scootaloo's parents haven't been mentioned, doesn't mean they don't exist

Ah, yeah. And also we only learned of the existence of Twi's brother out of the blue in the last episodes of the second season, so, yeah... They have an history of doing that.

One of Lauren Faust's Q&A things seemed to imply they could maybe do such an episode. But whether or not they will remains to be seen.

This. It's not like we've seen Fluttershy's parents either. I imagine we won't unless there's a reason for it.

I think the reason people question the Apple family so much is that we've seen Granny Smith, and (most importantly) she also lives at Sweet Apple Acres with AJ, Big Mac and little Bloom. So there's a generational gap that leaves the question about why AJ's parents (and Granny Smith's son or daughter, whichever side of the family she's on) aren't there as well. With RD, Scoots, Fluttershy and any other pony we haven't seen family for, we can just assume they exist offscreen and haven't shown up yet.

TBH if it weren't for Granny Smith living on the farm I don't think people would wonder so much about AJ's parents: we could just assume that Sweet Apple Acres is where their generation happens to live and the others are all off...well somewhere else. Possibly reinforced by Apple Bloom living there as well; if we hadn't seen her room she could've just as easily been living with her parents off-screen the way Sweetie Belle clearly does.

Whoa, this bring back memories

Isn't granny Smith like, actually more than 100 years old, and easily close to 150 or even more ?

I don't know why, but given she participated in the foundation of Ponyville I could see her being kind of "binded" to the land, and literally living out of it : As long as Ponyville will live, she'll live.

At least I find it's an interesting crack theory.

I'd love more apple family episodes
hell, I'd watch a whole spinoff series just about them

I think you're right, the Apple family parents are the most likely to turn out to be dead (I'd use a school parent's evening as a way to introduce this, where all the other ponies bring in their parents, but apple bloom brings in AJ D:). Even then, I'd be surprised (in a good way) if they go there.

It would also work for them, because we know they have a functional family unit on the farm anyway, so it would sort-of, kind-of lessen the impact (that's not quite the right phrase, but hopefully you know what I mean).

That's what I'm basing this theory on, but there's no "confirmation" that Granny Smith has become, so to speak, Ponyville's resident spirit.

And yeah, "Gavalanche + Scootaloo - Abuse", my mind went WHOA for a whole minute.

Speaking of headcanon, it is my headcanon that the reason Rainbow Dash seemed to be able to find Scootaloo when she went over the waterfall out of seemingly nowhere had everything to do with Luna. I mean just look at how prominently the moon was being featured when Scoots was hanging on to that branch, when she went over the falls, and especially as the two pegasi flew up and away. And then Luna was right there to tell Scoots it was time for her to face her true fears.

Yep. Scoots scared herself into running, but that's okay: the Princess of the Night was watching out for her: "As always, I will guard the night." Luna is Best Princess.

People say that it seems Luna has a different voice each time. Possibly true, though they're similar enough for me. I think I like the tone she had here though; it was a good mix between casual and formal. Much more like how Celestia usually speaks, actually. I like to think of that as character development, Luna is becoming more and more comfortable in modern Equestria.

Just ignore the fact I essentially copy and pasted what I put in these posts over in the SDN thread as well. :v

Though to be fair I did see a couple comments on EqD and YT about Luna's voice so there. :smugdog:
